Never thought the day would come when I find myself in complete agreement with Nicholas Soames but here it is. That's his comment on Trump's toddlerish behaviour in France. He cancelled his visit to the US WW1 memorial today. My contempt knows no bounds.

It was a pointless war.

plaidlife · 10/11/2018 22:41

It was. That doesn't mean that those who died shouldn't be remembered, in fact it means to opposite. To stop should pointlessness in the future the sacrifice should be honoured and remembered.

longwayoff · 10/11/2018 22:41

Excellent grasp of history. You've complemented it well by your equally pointless remark.

Marcipex · 10/11/2018 22:45

Well, we all know by now that Trump is a complete arse.

MissMarplesKnitting · 10/11/2018 22:45

He couldn't possibly go. He can't operate umbrellas and without one, his hair will melt.....

2beesornot2beesthatisthehoney · 10/11/2018 22:49

Did it say on th3 news just now he’s pulled out of tomorrow as well. Words fail me....

Maldives2006 · 10/11/2018 22:51

This thread represents why World War 1 should be remembered it changed Britain forever. I can’t even be bothered to justify my answer you should all go and research the consequences of the war to end all wars.

Thymeout · 10/11/2018 22:58

So he's gone all that way for a photo-call with Macron? He's sulking because he's missing his weekend in Florida.

Too much to hope that he's ill, I suppose.

CoolCarrie · 11/11/2018 00:03

He is a total cunt, how dare he miss something so important, I hate himI only hope any veterans of WW2, and other wars in USA have been involved in since, and who support him with see now just what a bastard he is.

longwayoff · 11/11/2018 06:44

Pig of a man

OP posts:
kenandbarbie · 11/11/2018 07:03

Why has he cancelled?

BertrandRussell · 11/11/2018 07:07

He missed the dinner last night as well. There must be something pretty momentous happening......l

ConciseandNice · 11/11/2018 07:14

Maybe momentous is chronic and explosive diarrhoea and he can’t leave the little boys room.

DaffydownClock · 11/11/2018 07:15

He's an ignorant, pigheaded oaf, no manners, no conscience, egotistical and arrogant.
How on earth Americans thought him suitable for the Presidency beats me.
As they have sown so shall they reap.
At least he makes no attempt to hide how disgusting he is.

ConciseandNice · 11/11/2018 07:15

This accompanied by the disgraceful comments he has made about the fires in California have left me reeling. I’m afraid for the US that they accept this shocking behaviour in their leader. In the UK, he would have been ousted already.

BertrandRussell · 11/11/2018 07:18

He tweeted very differently about the Californian fires last night. Almost as if it was someone else doing damage limitation........

Conspiracy theories? Moi?

Footle · 11/11/2018 07:25

"In the UK he would have been ousted already". A bit optimistic ?

TheHulksPurplePanties · 11/11/2018 07:27

I think we will be seeing a lot more of this type of behavior. He's losing now isn't he? Before he was winning.

TheHulksPurplePanties · 11/11/2018 07:29

In the UK, he would have been ousted already.

You would like to think that in the rest of the Western world someone like him would never have been elected in the first place. The fact that he was speaks volumes about the US.

CarolDanvers · 11/11/2018 07:29

Indeed. Tantrum Time for the thwarted Narcissist. He's going to be withdrawing good behaviour now with a petulant "why should I?!"

Str1ngofhearts · 11/11/2018 07:30

Yes we still are lead by the God awful Tories who got us into the Brexit mess for party vanity. They continue to lead us through the shit show with zero apptitude or thought for the havoc it will cause. We are blindly following just the same as the US.

Rachelover40 · 11/11/2018 07:32

I couldn't care less whether Trump went to that gig or not, nor why his cancelling has received publicity because some other US bigwig is going, but agree he is unspeakable.

BitOfFun · 11/11/2018 07:42

Gig? You mean the 100th anniversary of the Armistice?

I think it's pretty significant that the leader of the United States cried off because of rain, especially when many of the soldiers who fought suffered trenchfoot because of the relentlessly wet conditions, and even died by drowning in the mud of the battlefields.

I hope BertrandRussell is right though and he has a serious case of the shits.

MissSusanScreams · 11/11/2018 07:44

I wonder how his veteran supporting, redneck voter base will view this. Surely not well.

Roussette · 11/11/2018 07:51

So he's gone all that way for a photo-call with Macron?

No. He's meeting his handler Putin today. That's why he went.

He is beyond unspeakable, how dare he pretend he supports the military. The first President in history not to have visited the troops abroad... if he wasn't interested in living soldiers, he'd hardly honour dead ones would he?

BertrandRussell is there a source for him missing last night too? I'd be interested in that so I can plaster it all over twitter Grin. I know he's pulled out of attending the Paris Peace Forum this afternoon. So it seems he really is just there to see Putin.
