Hello,Apologies for this if you are not a dog lover.
We have had our beautiful rescue dog for six years and two months.
EVERY day we are asked what breed he is.We don't know. The wonderful lady at the rescue didn't know.
He goes out twice a day.now two times six years and two months is a lot of what breed is your dog.
He is 42kg,height of a retriever.small ears.tail same as a retriever(yes we did wonder if retriever cross)small paws, not webbed.LOVED chasing anything like squirrels and going in mud and water(except clean water)but refuses to swim.very gentle natured.never aggressive.not a guard dog.Nothing unusual in his gait.the vet has no idea.
We absolutely love him.
We would just love to be able to have an idea what he is.
The majority of people say ;Wheaton terrier, retriever, bearded collie, old English sheepdog, wolfhound.
We can't afford dna.
So,if anyone has a dog the same and knows what mixture our lovely boy is please tell us!
Thank you.

I'm not a dog lover and I think he's gorgeous!

My money's on polar bear cross.

isseywithcats · 09/11/2018 13:59

could be wheaten terrier retreiver cross

QuestionableMouse · 09/11/2018 13:59

Westie lab cross imo

Oddsocksandmeatballs · 09/11/2018 14:00

I had my dogs DNA tested, the results were very accurate (one of my dog's sister was also tested and the results came back identical to ours, there was no way the dogs could've been linked by the lab doing the test). It might be worth considering?

He's rather lovely.

Oddsocksandmeatballs · 09/11/2018 14:02

Sorry, meant to say that the tests often come up at a reduced price on Amazon so it might make it more affordable?

AnotherOriginalUsername · 09/11/2018 14:05

Golden retriever X bearded Collie would be my guess if I had to commit to two breeds.

In reality, you'll never know, even with a DNA test. They have their limitations. What's important is that you have a cracking dog who is unique!

Honeyroar · 09/11/2018 14:07

Is he from abroad? He has a look of a few of the Romanian dogs I've seen.

dontgobaconmyheart · 09/11/2018 14:13

Sorry OP I don't have any helpful comments but he is just gorgeous! What a sweet fluffball you have Grin

IjustbelieveinMe · 09/11/2018 14:21

What colour coat did he have as a puppy?

DaysofWineandNeurosis · 09/11/2018 14:26

I’ve got a friend with a poorly bred goldendoodle and she looks very much like your lad. She’s a lovely dog but sheds like a mad thing and loves nothing better than rolling in fox poo or wallowing in thick mud. 😆

irunlikeahipoo · 09/11/2018 14:28

He looks like a smaller mixed version of my friends dog which is a Russian sheepdog although hers are massive much bigger than yours
Or possibly one of the Romanian mountain dogs

Singlebutmarried · 09/11/2018 14:28

We paid and got ours Jeremy Kyled.

She came back as a collie cross.

IjustbelieveinMe · 09/11/2018 14:30

I have a wheaten and am always asked if he is a doodle/groodle, the only difference it seems is the ears, Eddie has the typical terrier pointy ones and doodles have spaniel type ears.

shiningstar2 · 09/11/2018 14:36

Her coat suggests part golden retriever to me but not a retriever face. Our black dog has wavy hair like yours. She is a rescue and we were told she is a labradoodle. Whatever yours is he is absolutely gorgeous.

Ariclock · 09/11/2018 14:40

I'd guess retriever crossed with a bearded collie?

ileclerc · 09/11/2018 14:42

No idea, but I can see why you get asked, that's a very gorgeous dog!

If I had to I'd guess lab and some kind of terrier maybe.

makingmammaries · 09/11/2018 15:05

Komondor cross?

longwayoff · 09/11/2018 17:16

What a beauty. Reminds me of a Spinoni. Cross?

KarmaStar · 10/11/2018 20:21

Thank you for your replies, our internet went down yesterday after I'd posted.maybe I should save up for a dna!

There’s a beautiful Hungarian breed called the kuvasz that looks a little like your handsome boy. (I’m trying to upload a pic, but I don’t know if I have the skills!)

He definitely has the look of the kind of big, rugged, working shepherd dogs that you see in Hungary and Romania. Was he a rescue from Eastern Europe by any chance?

ElseSmelsa · 11/11/2018 02:03

He has the face of a terrier for sure. Oh my goodness, what a beautiful dog!

Tatiannatomasina · 11/11/2018 02:06

My first thought was golden retriever cross poodle, possibly labrador cross collie.

Pardalis · 11/11/2018 02:07

He's gorgeous! I would rule out bearded Collie due to colouring. Wheaten - maybe.
But ultimately he looks healthy, good confirmation. A lovely doggy shape!

Bordador · 11/11/2018 02:08

Out of interest, hoe much is dna testing?
Looking to get my dog done

DownAndUnder · 11/11/2018 02:12

I opened the the second picture first and thought westie, then looked at the second picture and your post. He looks like a lab x westie
