I'm nearly out of the first trimester with baby #2 and have been quite bad this time around. That, coupled with us all having various colds/bugs/viruses have meant we've been eating a lot of rubbish recently. I'm starting to feel better so can face cooking and being around food again, but I've also lost a lot inspiration for meals, etc. I used to make about 80% of our food before.

So for a bit of inspiration, AIBU to ask what your toddler is having for lunch today?

sandwich rolls. basically bread cut into strips, spread with jam and then rolled up. i'll also give them some carrot sticks and a small yogurt

Camomila · 30/10/2018 10:30

DS is at my DMs today so I'm about 90% certain he'll demand spaghetti and sauce.

My go to quick toddler meal is boiled new potatoes (because of quickness) chopped up in a bowl with baked beans and grated cheddar - like the laziest 'pie' ever.

InMemoryOfSleep · 30/10/2018 10:30

Today is soup and toast. Yesterday was houmous, breadsticks, tomatoes and cucumber. Other lunches we’ve tried - lamb koftas (make a batch and freeze), beans on toast, omelette with salmon and peas, ham and avocado wraps, and tuna and sweet corn.

Lana1234 · 30/10/2018 10:35

Tuna bake for lunch. So easy and making a big batch lasts for days. Then probably a little yougurt or some fruit for after

Oysterbabe · 30/10/2018 10:37

A tuna salad wrap and some yoghurt. Probably some hummus and veg sticks when she's scrounging for more a bit later.

WithAFaeryHandInHand · 30/10/2018 10:40

I’ve sent my preschooler to nursery with a jam sandwich (not great; it’s usually cucumber but I’m sick of making them and dc is sick of eating them)! Also a yoghurt, some cheese and some raisins.

At home we have a lot of baked beans on toast or hummus with pita bread and crudités. We’ve just started making all our own hummus and it’s surprisingly easy. Dc likes helping and it isn’t a lot of effort if you’re looking to kill some time fairly easily.

Tuna bake for lunch. So easy and making a big batch lasts for days.

It does, my LO is having leftover Tuna Pasta Bake for lunch today, with half a banana or a mini fromage frais after. Yesterday she had Flatbread and houmous with chopped cherry tomatoes x

BertramKibbler · 30/10/2018 10:41

McDonald’s chicken nuggets

PinkHeart5914 · 30/10/2018 10:42

Beans on toast with an apple for my 3 today.

Easy to do, winners here are:
Pasta and tomato sauce
A “picnic” plate, I do slices of pita bread, hummus, veg sticks, a sausage roll and some fruit
Soup (favourite is tomato)
A cheese salad wrap ( wraps seem to excite mine Confused )

iliketomoveitmoveitMOVEIT · 30/10/2018 10:44

A temper tantrum probably Hmm

Suresurelah · 30/10/2018 10:45

Cheese, crackers, cherry tomatoes (cut very small) and ham. This then was followed by a fruit pouch.

Yesterday, Dd had toast with hummus and cucumber sticks.

Goinonabearhuntt · 30/10/2018 10:48

Our staple lunches are:
Crumpet with butter and marmite with cucumber and pepper sticks, humous, slices of cheese and halved cherry tomatoes
Scrambled egg on toast with some veg like broccoli
Beans on toast (bit hit and miss)
Cheese on toast with veg sticks
Cheese muffins (found a recipe on a blw forum and they can be frozen and then defrosted in microwave) and veg sticks
Pasta and pesto and halved cherry tomatoes
Leftover tuna pasta bake or macaroni cheese

TeddyIsaHe · 30/10/2018 10:50

Beans on an English muffin. She’s being a fussy, grumpy thing at the moment and it’s the one food I know she won’t screech at! It’s been a long few weeks with her 😂

ParkheadParadise · 30/10/2018 10:51

Dd is having tomato soup
Also having rolls n sausage.
Finished off with a chocolate eclair😄

MsHopey · 30/10/2018 10:57

Fish fingers, beans and potatoes.
I never wanted to be a pizza, chicken nuggets, fish finger mom, but just reached the second trimester and have been knackered! Also I have hot and spicy chicken breast with beans and potatoes so it just makes sense to not have to cook loads of different things.
We're on a very low income this month and DH and I are watching our weight so unfortunately big spagehetti Bolognese 🤤 my favourite, just aren't allowed to happen at the moment.

Onefootforward1 · 30/10/2018 11:06

Black eye bean curry and rice. I usually batch cook curry and stew and freeze portions so i can take them out on days they are home. Favourites are:
Bolognese
Chili
Chicken curry
Lamb and spinach curry
Beef stew
Sausage casserole

If they have one “good” meal i feel fairly relaxed about the second meal being not so nutritious and let them choose.

pastabest · 30/10/2018 11:24

Today is spaghetti and meatballs

Other common lunches are:

jacket potatoes
Pasta and tomato sauce
Beans on toast
Omelette
Waffles/chips with fish fingers and peas
Cottage pie
Fried rice to use up leftovers
Risotto

AlpineButterfly · 30/10/2018 11:34

Today is omlette with sweet potato, spinach, mushroom and ham. Then some apple.

Glad to see that my toddler eats a pretty standard lunch based on this thread
