This is one of the most apt political cartoon I’ve seen.

'Yesterday in Pittsburgh I was really impressed with Congressman Keith Rothfus (far more so than any other local political figure). His sincere level of compassion, grief and sorrow for the events that took place was, in its own way, very inspiring. Vote for Keith!'

“My time in Pittsburgh - a Trump Story” Below I’m posting some comments of Trump’s, annotated by Breitbart, from his rally in Florida ATM. This is his version of events, as he understands it, or how he would like his base to treat them. He intertwines the terms ‘left-wing media’, ‘far-left media’ and ‘fake media’ and states explicitly that they “used tragedy to sow anger and division”.

‘Trump says yesterday’s visit to Pittsburgh was about unity and then he came home and saw that “the far left media once again used tragedy to sow anger and division.” He said he was looking forward to the coverage as the crowd chants “CNN Sucks! CNN Sucks!”

‘He says they “sadly” took “a small group of protesters” and tried to divide Americans.

‘“They did everything in their power to play it up and push people apart. They are pushing people apart. It was fake and it was make-believe what they said…it was sad. When we talk about division, this is a big part of the division. Right here,” Trump says. “The far-left media has spread terrible lies and stories about the Trump administration and the tens of millions of people who make up our great movement. The greatest political movement in the history of our country.”

‘Trump says that is why 33% believe that fake news, and he hates to say it, “is the enemy of the people.” He says the left-wing media doesn’t want to solve problems and want to instead “stoke resentment.”

‘“Our movement is about safe homes, great jobs for every citizen. Our movement is about love for our fellow Americans. Our movement is for… anyone who wants to build a better future. You can do it right here in the U.S.A. Right here,” Trump says.’

I'm sitting here idly wondering if there are any GOP members of Congress who are extraordinarily ashamed of their party in the shape its become and who won't actively campaign against their opposition in the hope of getting a bit of balance back and away from the alt-right? I suppose there's not a cat's chance in Hell. Also, I continue to be amazed at the definition in the USA of "snowflake lefty libtards" - these are surely just normal people who want equal rights for all, basically, aren't they? So not actually anywhere particular on the political spectrum, but normal on the human spectrum?
Don't mind me, I'm just enjoying my coffee on my balcony and burying my head in the desert sand here.

Georgia GOP Gubernatorial Candidate Ditches Final Debate At The 'Last Minute'
Brian Kemp will join President Trump at a campaign rally in Macon instead.
www.huffingtonpost.com/entry/brian-kemp-stacey-abrams-debate-canceled_us_5bda7c3ae4b019a7ab5a3512

The final televised debate between Georgia gubernatorial candidates Stacey Abrams (D) and Georgia Secretary of State Brian Kemp (R) has been canceled after the Republican candidate’s eleventh-hour decision to pull out of the Sunday forum. Kemp will be campaigning that day with President Donald Trump in the city of Macon instead.

Abrams and Kemp, who are running neck-and-neck in the hotly contested race, blamed the other for the cancellation, which organizer WSB-TV confirmed on Wednesday.

“We regret that we had to cancel, but once Secretary Kemp pulled out at the last minute, the candidates could not agree to a new time,” Misti Turnbull, WSB’s news director, told the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.

In a blistering statement, Abrams suggested Kemp was callously “breaking promises” to Georgians, while a spokesman for Kemp said that Abrams had been “offered multiple days, times and venues” as alternatives for their dialogue but she was “ducking Georgia voters because she can’t defend her extreme, radical agenda on live television.”

The debate, which would have marked the second time Kemp and Abrams faced off on live TV, had been scheduled to air on WSB at 5 p.m. Sunday. The date and time for the forum had reportedly been determined more than six weeks ago.

WSB told The New York Times on Wednesday that Kemp’s campaign had informed it of the need to reschedule “within the past 24 hours.” The request had come on the heels of the announcement that Trump was planning a rally in Macon an hour before the debate was scheduled to take place.

Further to NorthWestPassage's article above, how many voters do we think are going to be persuaded to vote for a Republican candidate specifically because the candidate attends a Trump rally where they are endorsed by Trump? (Not sure if that makes sense, sorry, I know what I mean!)

Has Mueller Subpoenaed the President?
A careful reading of court filings suggests the special counsel hasn’t been quiet. Far from it.

These months before the midterm elections are tough ones for all of us Mueller-watchers. As we expected, he has gone quiet in deference to longstanding Justice Department policy that prosecutors should not take actions that might affect pending elections. Whatever he is doing, he is doing quietly and even further from the public eye than usual.

What on earth do KAC and Mr Conway talk about at the breakfast table?

To say that “illegal immigrants are not subject to the jurisdiction of the United States” is just drivel. Were that true, then the government wouldn’t be able to arrest them. Surely that’s not the President’s position. Clearly he has no comprehension of the words he’s using.

I'm completely baffled as to the state of the Conway marriage - they look to be poles apart on their view of Trump. How can they live together in such disagreement? (I realised recently that a huge reason I finished with a lovely boy-friend who my parents thought of as great "husband material" (it was the Seventies, give over!) was because of our fundamental political differences, which is why I am so intrigued by the Conways Grin)

Any media operation that acts as a stenographer for this president, in headlines or tweets, is at risk for sending false information into the world. There is no joy in saying this, but he lies. And it is the job for all of us not to serve as a megaphone for those lies.
