Day of the Dead, a haunted house, and the Hogwarts crest.

hoping to do something like this on one of them, by printing out a stencil and carving round it. on the other, the kids want to do a ghost so i'll get a template for that too.

HavelockVetinari · 29/10/2018 15:52

And the Hogwarts crest - not as great as I hoped

@sleepismysuperpower1 it's REALLY hard to do the letters with a bit inside like A and O (I speak from bitter experience!). If you do go ahead make sure the wall of the pumpkin is very thin and you use a scalpel rather than a kitchen knife.

We’ve done four, a classic face, a face with a moustache and monocle, a skull and a ghost. This year I’ve discovered the joy of power tools when pumpkin carving. I used a drill with a beater attached to help clear the inside quickly, a regular drill bit to add details and a tiny chainsaw to cut the tops off and carve out the big pieces.

CravingRaven · 29/10/2018 16:03

We have done a traditional pumpkin with a half smile/grin sort of thing (triangle eyes) 🎃
We’ve also done a cat silouette, a scary face and a ghost.

All quite simple to copy from Pinterest Halloween Grin

CravingRaven · 29/10/2018 16:05

Ghost isn’t finished when I took photo.

HoomanMoomin · 29/10/2018 16:35

If I will carve one, it will be Brexit.

Babybearsporij · 29/10/2018 16:39

We bought a carving kit which had a few pages of stencils, so we did a standard scary face, as the DC were carving.

ConorMcGregorsChin · 29/10/2018 17:34

Ooh some good ideas and great pics!
Bluths I've also used power tools in the past. Great fun. But also messy. If weather is decent tomorrow, I may do it in the garden.
Hooman How would a Brexit pumpkin look? apart from totally fucking miserable I wonder?

Havelock How long did it take you to do the Day of the Dead one?

WhatsGoingOnEh · 29/10/2018 17:39

How do you do the thing where you don't cut through the whole wall of the pumpkin, but just a little bit (so it creates shading)?

MyCatStares · 29/10/2018 17:43

Meant to be the Cheshire cat. Halloween Grin

ConorMcGregorsChin · 29/10/2018 18:03

OHoly that's fab! I was thinking of doing similar with orange slime inards after watching This Morning last week. Then I realised it would just be one hell of a mess!
