Just that, I drove past a house with a Christmas tree up. A beautiful Christmas tree, but way too early!!!!!! We've not even had Halloween yet!

I like Christmas but yeah that's too early. I did buy mine the other day but only because we don't have any Christmas decorations and I wanted to get one before they get more expensive.

StoneofDestiny · 14/10/2018 22:46

A house with their tree up already. Ye Gods.

SparklingUnicorn · 14/10/2018 22:46

Went to my local carvery tonight and they’ve got the whole works up - I’m talking tree, lights, life size wicker reindeers Grin

Isadora2007 · 14/10/2018 22:50

Yanbu

And I do love Christmas, but surely putting a tree up now just means you’re not actually building up to the excitement.

(Bet someone will come on and share a sad tale of some dying person who celebrated Xmas at a different time of year and make me feel guilty now)

Chouetted · 14/10/2018 22:52

YABNU - drives me mad when people want to skip Advent. It's the exciting part of Christmas!

The twelve days come after the 25th...

MeanTangerine · 14/10/2018 22:52

I won't have mine up before Dec 18th but seeing someone else's would give me a little twinge of joy, I'm afraid.

Sparklesocks · 14/10/2018 22:53

Oh god yes.
I love Xmas but I’d get Christmas fatigue if I dragged it out for months!!
We still have Halloween and bonfire night before then.

Witchend · 14/10/2018 22:54

I've got my decorations up okay really I couldn't reach the one in the corner so it stayed up

What I'd like to know is why when you put the decorations up in the middle of December you come down every morning and have to stick them back up again as they've fallen down. Can't reach the one in the corner and it stays up for 10 months...

JellyBears · 14/10/2018 22:55

I love Christmas but it starts December 1st for me. October is very early.

DiscoMoo · 14/10/2018 22:56

A house in my village puts their tree, fully decorated, up in mid September every year.

DisneyMillie · 14/10/2018 22:58

We get a real tree and have underfloor heating which seems to kill them quick so we only have one up the week leading up to Christmas. My parents always put theirs up Christmas Eve - anything earlier than 1st December feels wrong!

Aintnothingbutaheartache · 14/10/2018 22:59

Unless it’s a fake or a planted real one with roots we’re talking pot pourri by November 1st 😳

TheWoollybacksWife · 14/10/2018 22:59

If you have to dust your Christmas tree before Christmas Day then it's up too early.

WelcomeToShootingStars · 14/10/2018 23:01

I love Christmas, really love it. But not before advent.

Andro · 14/10/2018 23:01

Christmas anything before December 1st is too soon (the exception being any planning requiring more time - guests travelling long distances etc).

MrsTommyBanks · 14/10/2018 23:02

@Witchend how did you get it up?

MrsTommyBanks · 14/10/2018 23:03

Christmas starts a week before Christmas Eve in BanksTowers

AamdC · 14/10/2018 23:07

Is it not a Halloweem tree i heard rjis is a thing now ? But yeah xmas trees in october Confusedit was t shirt weather in my town a few days ago

Witchend · 14/10/2018 23:09

@MrsTommyBanks
I got it up by standing on the desk that was right by it. Over December we had a good idea of rearranging the furniture and we sold the desk on. We've now got a rather flimsier desk there which I wouldn't dare to stand on, and I'm not tall enough to stretch round it from the chair.

I decided not to worry as blu-tac doesn't hold much up for long. Unfortunately it's proved me wrong. The dc think it's very funny though.

StoneofDestiny · 14/10/2018 23:13

DiscoMoo
Date stamped pictures or it doesn't happen 😇

AamdC · 14/10/2018 23:17

My neighbour puts his tree up stupidly early like end of october but takes it down after boxing dayConfused mine goes up late around the 20 ush of december and down the day after new years day ie the axtual xmas period .

Banamara · 14/10/2018 23:18

Oh whatever people want to do is ok if it does not impact on you.

We are not allowed to criticise anything anymore anyway lol!

DiscoMoo · 14/10/2018 23:20

Last year’s, it was put up the same weekend this year.

AIBU It's far too early for a Christmas tree!!!!
trancepants · 14/10/2018 23:21

I remember a few years back someone made a massive whinging fuss online about someone having a Christmas tree in their front garden at around this time of year. Turned out, in the light of day, it was a large triangular shaped bird feeder with a few solar light on it.

southnownorth · 14/10/2018 23:22

YANBU. My dd likes ours up at the very end of November for her birthday, people think I'm mad for doing it that early. But October is just batshit.
