Just that, I drove past a house with a Christmas tree up. A beautiful Christmas tree, but way too early!!!!!! We've not even had Halloween yet!

We went out to a Carvery when we came back from holiday (late Aug) and they had all the Christmas tat up Shock

Ours don't go up before DS birthday ( first week in Dec)

StoneofDestiny · 14/10/2018 23:31

DiscoMoo
......respect....(not for the tree)

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 14/10/2018 23:32

At least it'll keep all the bah-humbug/Victor/Victoria Meldrew types happy - gives them something to moan about. We should all do our bit to keep them supplied with moan-fodder.

Our tree won't go up before mid December, though, so I'll have to think of something else.

BewareOfDragons · 14/10/2018 23:37

Waaaaaay to early for that ... I type as I compare all the Beauty Box Advent Calendars on offer on other window, knowing some sell out so quickly!

Surpriseitsme · 14/10/2018 23:50

I work in retail. Christmas is coming on tuesday.Confused

CartwheelCath · 14/10/2018 23:54

Maybe they have a family member going away.

DH was in the army. We had a full blown Christmas in November one year before he went away for 6 months.
It could also be one of those people who start early then will say they have had enough of Christmas on Boxing Day and be taking it down then!

HerRoyalNotness · 14/10/2018 23:59

My friends brother is dying and is unlikely to make it to xmas. She’s gone home for a bit and they plan to do xmas while she’s there.

All sorts of reasons why people would have a tree up

LondonLassInTheCountry · 15/10/2018 00:03

It MAYBE someone celebrating Christmas earlier because theve been given a terminal diagnosis...

I met a woman last week who was having Christmas the following day because the drs had told her she had 3 weeks to live

Meadowflowers · 15/10/2018 22:42

Awwww I never thought of the working away or terminal illness actually. My sincere apologies if this is the case for anyone affected.
Disco, have you ever asked why they do this?

I m a complete Christmas freak and I m playing Now Christmas in the car already, but I draw the line at our tree just yet, we usually do it the last week in November. It tends to make the living room look a bit cluttered and annoy me if it's up any earlier. We keep it up til 12th night though, I m not itching to get it down by Boxing Day like a lot of people I know.

blowinahoolie · 15/11/2020 07:27

A house near me has their tree up 1st November every year. Tree comes down Boxing Day.

Far too early IMO!

Moistmolly · 15/11/2020 08:29

I guess 2018 is a bit early for a 2020 Christmas

Jgb12 · 15/11/2020 08:31

Does it affect you? Is it your house? People can do what they want. Life is too short to give a crap who has their Christmas tree up. We haven’t but some of our neighbours have.

TheGoogleMum · 15/11/2020 08:53

I think more people than usual have put decorations up early to cheer themselves up during lockdown. I think before December is too early though!

whopooedinthepyrex · 15/11/2020 09:38

@Moistmolly

I guess 2018 is a bit early for a 2020 Christmas
Grin

@TheGoogleMum there was no lockdown in 2018?!
