Its never the Kaiser chiefs, its always blardy dance music, bad 90's pop, or for some reason, 'red red wine' fgs...

The annoying lad who lives in the flat next door to me has only two cds it would seem. Bith are 'best of' affairs, and they are Britney and Michael Jackson. It would also appear that his stereo functions only when his windows are fully open and the volume control is faulty as it's only ever on 'full'.

A very loud, vehement and most of all well timed 'ohforfuckssake!' worked the trick this afternoon though, as it all went silent after a minute or so

Previous tenants of that flat have been subjected to various portions of my 'loud shouty music' collection at competing volume to their own until the hint has been taken. If they play their music at a reasonable volume I'll do the same with mine. After all, Britney v NIN isn't a battle that they're likely to win is it?

I called Environmental Health the day after some morons from the local golf course decided to let off a shedload of fireworks at 3.00AM. Nice, not grrrr!!. Apart from anything else their actions were illegal. The upshot of all this was that the golf course proprietors were not prosecuted (they said that their customers let off the fireworks illegally in their car park) they were warned about allowing this to happen again.

I would advise anyone who has recurrent problems with noise pollution to contact their Environmental Health dept at the council offices. They can and do take action against persistant offenders (they have powers to take speakers).
