Its never the Kaiser chiefs, its always blardy dance music, bad 90's pop, or for some reason, 'red red wine' fgs...

a jukebox - gawd

once read bout a lady having ASBO served as she habitually listened to aerosmith change a thing record all the time..poor neighbours driven daft

ThomCat · 09/06/2007 22:51

Oh Dabbles you have my sympathies. Ours play 80's pop shite too. If we are having people over I race down at 8am and get our music on in the garden first so we don't all have to listen to shite the whole day!

Saggarmakersbottomknocker · 09/06/2007 23:01

I admit to playing mine quite loudly today - it was The Kinks - but it was to drown out the effing and jeffing going on over the back hedge.

Rather hear crap music than bad language TBH.

aaah expat, i openly love you. we have a drum group practising in an outbuilding at the back of ours... [gritted teeth]

Cascara · 10/06/2007 11:10

This is not a good subject to me as for 6 months we were living listening to other people's music and it had a huge detrimental effect on our lives, especially my life.

I think it should be ILLEGAL, full stop. It's like living your life in chains constantly having music, especially anything with a pounding bass, constantly on, constantly there, pounding inside your head, just audible above everything you do even if you turn the tv up loudly to drown it out, knowing there is fuck all you can do about it because it takes months to get a case together. Then when you move you fear your neighbours, if you hear one party you start worrying it will be the start of it all over again and you break out in a sweat and the fear of the panic attacks you had when pregnant rears its ugly head.

So if anyone on here plays their music so loud their neighbours have no choice but to listen or lets their kids do the same you are fucking selfish bastards.

Backtobasics · 10/06/2007 11:28

Dabbles, what music would you say was decent music then? The boy next door plays old happy hardcore

evenhope · 10/06/2007 11:41

Cascara I feel for you. We had 2.5 years with an excessively noisy neighbour (tho not music) so now I can't tolerate any sort of noise. No-one ever seems to "get" it either. Even our parents said "everyone gets noise".

I fully agree with you. Outdoor noise should be illegal

Backtobasics · 10/06/2007 11:43

I don't see how anyone can say 'play decent music' though because everyone has different tastes in music and what may seem rubbish to one person, is good to another.

Durdle · 10/06/2007 11:45

The people that live at the end of my garden have the soundtrack to pretty woman on repeat. I HATE it.

kimi · 10/06/2007 11:45

18 year old next door but one play 60s music while working on his car, DH1 said I never had you down for that type of music and boy says but DH1 its THE 60s man
we sing along... but when we lived in a flat we had a shit upstairs who played techno and drum and bass ALL the time.... we had the fuse boxes in our flat and so i used to turn his power off

Cascara · 10/06/2007 12:21

evenhope, exactly! No-one does understand what it's like living with it unless they have themselves. I found the neighbours from hell website helped me cope a little better. At least we were only renting. I fear buying a house.

dozydizzy · 10/06/2007 17:17

Cascara I sympathise too and think anyone who does this is selfish and unthinking, but probably people who haven't been on the recieving end the way we have doesn't think of it as being a bad thing iyswim. I lived next door to 4 students once (all blokes) who would play their crappy music all hours of the day and night, it was so loud it would make the walls vibrate. I once went round with my newborn baby and asked if they would turn it down (politely) as I couldn't get her to sleep. They did but for one night only, it was bad again the next day. Eventually they moved away thank goodness, we then got a couple in who would have v v loud sex, lol, not sure what was worse, pmsl. Anyway it was hell to live in, esp when I was pg and had a newborn, I would dread them coming home. Sometimes they'd get in at 2am, turn on Robbie Williams and start doing drunken karake. Yes studenty fun, but they should keep it to halls of residence like I did. lol.

dozydizzy · 10/06/2007 17:19

Karaoke, I mean, obviously.

LazyLine · 10/06/2007 17:20

George Michael all summer next door

cece · 10/06/2007 17:28

Cascara

I so agree with you - why do people feel the need to play music in their gardens

The garden is for a bit of peace and quiet.

melsy · 10/06/2007 17:29

I've been in my garden listening to Dance music this evening.. Dave Perice Dance Anthems on Radio 1 and it was amazing ! I'd have been a bit more courtious about it if it were not for the fact that my neighbours bastard dog insists on waking me up at 0630 everys other morning and on the other mornings one of ther damn kids revs his car do death.. when they stop i'll start listening to Death Fm.. I might even have to play Simply Read but i think you might actually have to kill me first !
