AIBU when I've never played Cards Against Humanity?

What is it and can anyone give an example of one round?

There is an online lab (used to trial new card ideas I think) that will give you an idea. www.cardsagainsthumanity.com/lab/

My 14 year old daughter played it with her 20 year old brother and his friends - and won. It was a bit disturbing...

Clandestino · 14/09/2018 15:42

I've never played it but reading about it it looks like it could turn potentially very nasty and bullying. I would suggest if you feel insecure or aren't really the best of pals with the people you play it with, don't.

Singlebutmarried · 14/09/2018 15:43

It’s wrong on so many levels. But have always had a brilliant laugh playing it. But then again mine and DHs humour is slightly wrong at times.

Stephisaur · 14/09/2018 15:43

It's a card game.

There's a stack of black cards, which are the questions, and each player holds 10 white cards in their hand.

Once the designated person (you take turns) has asked the question, then the others must choose their funniest/most offensive card to fill the gap/answer the question. This is then placed face down in the centre of the table and the responses are read by the question asker. The answer they find funniest wins, and the person that played that card keeps the black question card.

Whoever has the most black cards at the end, wins.

Hope that helps!

We play it with the kids (older with sex cards removed) and it can be hilarious. Obviously if playing with strangers you may not like some card combinations. We've only ever had fun with it and bought a few expansions

MrsRubyMonday · 14/09/2018 15:48

It's hilarious. We play frequently because it can be as few or as many rounds as you want which makes it pretty flexible. The cards are modern and they release regular expansions with stuff that's been going on in the news etc so lots to play off and have a great laugh. It can be as innocent or as appropriate as you want, entirely depends on the people playing. Good for older teens, not a kids game. Don't see where the bullying would happen though.

Never play this game after dinner with your in laws! Other than that it can be great fun

Oakmaiden · 14/09/2018 15:49

One from a game at Christmas...

DollyWilde · 14/09/2018 15:51

I like the fact that you can play the person ie if you know your friend’s type of humour you can play something to get points which another friend might ‘Confused’ at and discard. I’m rather good at it if I do say so myself Grin

DollyWilde · 14/09/2018 15:52

Here’s one of ours recently... had to pop it on Twitter with a vote to decide who got the points, it was too close to call Grin

Oakmaiden. I looked at the online lab thanks. I didn't find any answers funny. Is it me??? I normally have a great sense of humour.

My daughters ex boyfriend was from Liverpool. It’s a matter of great envy in our house if anyone is lucky enough to get the ‘scousers’ answer card as it’s a pretty much guaranteed win. No offense intended to anyone here from Liverpool (but he was a shit)

HostessTrolley · 14/09/2018 15:58

@paperdolly - it’s funnier after a drink

InBlackwaterWoods · 14/09/2018 16:00

Love this game! It's very non pc, but we always have a good laugh playing it! I never win, not twisted enough!! 😂😂

ViserionTheDragon · 14/09/2018 16:03

It's funny and entertaining, I love playing it with friends at dinner parties! YY to not playing it with the in laws, and not with for people who are sensitive either.

pastabest · 14/09/2018 16:05

I think you must have somehow massively misinterpreted the aims of the game clandestino

I'm trying to work out how you have come to the conclusion that it wouldn't be played by insecure people or could lead to bullying? It's not about the people playing it's all pre-printed cards based.

I'm crap at it

pastabest · 14/09/2018 16:10

Ahh is it possibly because people like viserion say things like it's not for people who are sensitive?

That's more because it can (depending on who is playing) really push the boundaries of 'acceptable things to say' but that's about the card combinations used and not anything to do with the players. Some people might find some of the card combinations offensive, but the individual cards on their own aren't necessarily offensive.

StarkintheSouth · 14/09/2018 16:11

A dark sense of humour helps and playing it with like minded types- no one overly sensitive should play it. I personally have had some brilliantly hilarious games (usually aided with a glass or ten of wine) But one time, I played it with some of the most boring people I've ever met (in the hope of livening up the evening) and it went down like a ton of bricks. Put it this way, if you don't know what a bukakke is, this isn't the game for you.

Oakmaiden · 14/09/2018 16:11

It is funnier in person and with the actual card set than with the online one.

But not for the "easily offended"...

DanglyBangly · 14/09/2018 16:12

I’ve played it but I took out the cards I found too offensive. There were only two, I think, in the whole pack.

MrsStrowman · 14/09/2018 16:13

If you get the Jimmy saville or Madeleine McCann cards it's like having a golden ticket

MrsStrowman · 14/09/2018 16:13

If you find a way to combine the two, even better.....

Defrack · 14/09/2018 16:14

Be very careful who you play it with Grin, my Jewish in-laws were notbimpressed with a Hitler and Jewish dungeon porn one.
Very awkward night.

BadPolicy · 14/09/2018 16:14

It's great if you choose who you play with carefully. You need to know their humour. My mum, who is usually very funny is rubbish at it because she can't read other people and just plays what she thinks should be funny.

MrsStrowman · 14/09/2018 16:14

. Put it this way, if you don't know what a bukakke is, this isn't the game for you.
