I am in bed with a flu like virus.

DP went to the shop to get pancake ingredients and apparently couldn’t find nasal spray or maple syrup.

Who the flip has golden syrup on pancakes? Angry Should I LTB?

Golden Syrup is better than maple though.
When you leave him send him my way, id love surprise golden syrup!

grumpy4squash · 08/09/2018 13:59

Definitely. Although lots of people will be here in a minute saying how delicious golden syrup is (it isn't).
Boots sell Otrivine nasal spray which works a treat. Or the Sinex one (less good but still ok)

blamethecat · 08/09/2018 13:59

Yes. Mine has golden syrup but calls it treacle. Idiot.

Bobbiepin · 08/09/2018 14:00

Send him back to look properly.

SneakyGremlins · 08/09/2018 14:00

Golden syrup IS delicious but on flapjack not pancakes.

Uncreative · 08/09/2018 14:05

YANBU!

Meltedicicle · 08/09/2018 14:08

We had golden syrup on today’s breakfast pancakes! YABU lol!

proudestofmums · 08/09/2018 14:14

Definitely you should. I’m preparing to leave mine because I asked him to,buy me some lucozade as I have a cold and he came back with ORANGE lucozade, which is the invention of the devil!

Seeingadistance · 08/09/2018 14:16

My granny used to make pancakes with golden syrup in place of sugar, then we'd have them spread with butter and golden syrup!

Yum!

Well, it was yummy then. On reflection, I'm not sure I'd like it now.

Mrsfs · 08/09/2018 14:16

Love golden syrup on pancakes, I really want pancakes now with golden syrup and smoky bacon. It's the perfect sweet and salty balance.

Maple syrup is the work of evil.

RibbonAurora · 08/09/2018 14:28

YANBU OP.

Pancakes = maple syrup,
Porridge = golden syrup
Plain Yoghurt = honey

Them's the rules in my house.

NorthEndGal · 08/09/2018 14:31

As a maple syrup making Canadian, yanbu!
Maple syrup is amazing!
Tbf, I'm wild about honey too, not so much on the golden syrup though.

Numberofthemouse · 08/09/2018 14:32

Mmmmmm golden syrup (treacle) on pancakes, and yoghurt, and porridge. And digestives at times!

MrsStrowman · 08/09/2018 14:34

@RibbonAurora I think I might live in your house, those are the rules here too...

MrsStrowman · 08/09/2018 14:35

@Numberofthemouse you know golden syrup and treacle are completely different things right?

MrsMozart · 08/09/2018 14:36

He needs to leave you. You're odd. Golden syrip is far superior!

(Get better soon!)

mikapatika · 08/09/2018 14:37

Golden syrup on left over Yorkshires too - may make extra just for this 😂

AdaColeman · 08/09/2018 14:37

Golden syrup is fab on hot pancakes.

Eminybob · 08/09/2018 14:40

Why did I open this thread? I could kill for pancakes with golden syrup by have gestational diabetes do that’s a bit fat no no.

Roo2012 · 08/09/2018 14:42

Eldest child had golden syrup on pancakes this morning. I was horrified. Youngest stuck with maple, she's now my favourite and I no longer trust eldest.

CleanHankie · 08/09/2018 14:51

Golden syrup on toast!!!
My rather Victorian like Grandad introduced me to that delicacy. Never had sugary treats at his at all, till I stayed over one night. I remember my eyes going like saucers at the naughty suggestion of putting syrup on toast, after all I'd only known it for baking at home. When I told my mum later what I'd had she never believed me! It's now one of my fav memories Smile

Numberofthemouse · 08/09/2018 15:07

MrsStrowman not where I'm from

LongSummerDays · 08/09/2018 15:08

I had golden syrup on Rice Krispies today Grin

Peterrabbitscarrots · 08/09/2018 15:10

I was recently served golden syrup on French toast at a cafe, despite it stating maple on the menu. It was awful

delphguelph · 08/09/2018 15:13

You need to look at this from an objective perspective.

Which shop did he go to?
Has he form for incompetence?
Does he understand the difference between maple and syrup?
Is he Canadian or British?
