Almost 2 yo dd. Keeps stripping off at bedtime. Last night my Dh put her back in her nappy 20 times. No exaggeration- 20 times. Eventually fell asleep at 10pm.

Have tried;
Nappy on backwards
Pull up
Nappy and pull up
Knickers on top of nappy
Knickers on top of vest / pyjamas
Vest with poppers on backwards
Vest over pyjamas
Etc etc

Nothing is working! Within 5 mins of being in her bed she's naked. She's not potty trained.

Any advice? I'm tempted to leave her naked as she turned last night into a game. Calling out "daddy" etc.

AIBU to leave her naked? She has a duvet....

Swimsuit.

Mumof4under10 · 01/09/2018 19:55

Sleepsuits on backwards? Swimsuit over everything?

WooYa · 01/09/2018 19:56

Zip up swimsuit on backwards

moreismore · 01/09/2018 19:56

How soundly does she sleep? Can you put an incontinence mat under her, wait until
she’s asleep and then slip a pull up nappy on? With any luck it’s just a phase-my DS did this briefly (although with less commitment! 20 times!!!!)

GinIsIn · 01/09/2018 19:58

You need to put the sleepsuit on backwards.....

LadyDuplo · 01/09/2018 19:58

Swimsuit. Genius. Thank you :-)

Hmmm, I'd be tempted to go with "you can go to bed like that and I'll put your nappy on when I go to bed."

pastabest · 01/09/2018 19:59

Bribes/reward chart? Stickers always go down well here.

Otherwise I think a waterproof sheet and ignoring it for a night. Once you stop reacting the game will probably lose its appeal. Will she wake up if you slip a pull up on her once she goes to sleep?

JynxaSmoochum · 01/09/2018 19:59

Taping it on so it can't stretch off.

DS hit this phase when he was ready to toilet train. I wasn't ready to toilet train because we were on a camping holiday in another country so the laundry would have totally impractical to deal with. We toilet trained quickly and easily soon afterwards.

LadyDuplo · 01/09/2018 19:59

Sleepsuit doesn't work. Even backwards she gets out of by ripping the poppers!

Get the zip up ones!

inmyfeelings · 01/09/2018 20:12

It sounds like she's fighting sleep and is messing with the nappy as a way to resist sleeping

NannyR · 01/09/2018 20:13

Duct tape all the way round.

Flashingbeacon · 01/09/2018 20:14

Tape round the entire waistband, not necessarily right but no stretch. My aunt tells a great story about my cousin that ended up with duck tape.

Haworthia · 01/09/2018 20:15

I was going to suggest duct/parcel tape too Grin

You’ll have to cut it off with scissors in the morning, but hey ho.

ButtonMirror · 01/09/2018 20:17

Sounds to me like she has issues with the feel of the nappy.
Could you try cloth nappies?

Nomad86 · 01/09/2018 20:19

Sleepsuit on backwards.

Maltropp · 01/09/2018 20:26

A motherease 'rikki' wrap on backwards over the nappy worked for one of my Dt's who was similar. The velcro is bastard strong.

ToffeePennie · 01/09/2018 20:31

We have this with my 10 month old. We get around it by wrapping duct tape around the nappy twice. Followed by putting a sleepsuit on backwards and wrapping a cloth nappy around the whole lot. He does it during the day too, but we can usually get around that by giving him a squeaky toy to play with.

Ansumpasty · 01/09/2018 20:31

I would go with early potty training.
In the meantime, get some of those training pad things so the wee accidents aren’t a big issue and let them go to sleep with no nappy. Put it on when they’re fast asleep

LadyDuplo · 01/09/2018 20:37

She has always been a sleep fighter - literally from the day she was born. I did wonder if the stripping off was a sleep delay.

She is now in a swimsuit (thank goodness for a huge sainsburys literally on my doorstep) with a zip up back.

Hopefully that'll work. Otherwise it'll be duct tape.

Looks like we'll be starting potty training v v soon.

Got back from sainsburys and she was happily playing with her naked bum. Blushgot her out, nappy back on and put her in her new swimsuit, she happily paraded around and was then most incensed that she was plopped into her bed wearing it. GrinGrinGrin

My ds was a sleep fighting nappy hater. I used to pop him in bed naked with a waterproof mattress protector and puppy pad on top of his sheet. He was dry through the night at 15mo and potty trained by 2. Sounds like you could try with the potty training. Explain to her that if she does all her wees and poos in the potty she won't have to wear a nappy anymore?

inmyfeelings · 01/09/2018 21:14

Isn't it a little too hot and uncomfortable wearing a swimsuit to bed , as the fabric is not breathable ?

AnnaBegins · 01/09/2018 21:25

Cloth nappy with poppers Grin good luck!

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 01/09/2018 21:53

I resorted to sellotape, to keep my dses in their nappies - all round at least once. You do need a pair of scissors on hand, to get them out of it, but it works.
