Ladies with long hair help!!

Welshdragon1975 · 01/09/2018 19:47

Posting for traffic.

I’m looking for your opinions on a (possibly!) new project. Those of you with long hair, what problems do you face with umbrellas?

Would you use an umbrella that was slightly longer and wider at the back, so that when you held the umbrella upright, or slightly titled at the back, it would still keep your longer hair dry?

If so, what would you be willing to pay for it?

Are there any other problems you have with them?

Thanks for your help I really appreciate it!!

I tuck my hair into my jacket and use a normal umbrella, stops it getting blown around too and messed up.

I really doubt there's a market for this.

Deshasafraisy · 01/09/2018 19:54

I also tuck my hair in.

Parpulous · 01/09/2018 19:54

I'm massively anti-umbrella (especially since every other twat using one seems to be completely unaware of who their umbrella is bashing into/dripping on!). I just wear a jacket with a hood and walk quickly to my destination...

Smidge001 · 01/09/2018 19:57

I'm another hair tucker. Don't see a market for this tbh.

Spam88 · 01/09/2018 19:58

Another one that uses hoods instead. Bloody hate umbrellas.

ChocolateChipMuffin2016 · 01/09/2018 20:00

I would put a hood up, hate the faff of an umbrella

MyCatIsBonkers · 01/09/2018 20:00

I just get wet. Umbrellas are too much faff.

Magmatic80 · 01/09/2018 20:01

If I used one of those it would be to keep rucksack dry, I’ve not ever had my hair get wet because of an umbrella not being big enough

Thatsfuckingshit · 01/09/2018 20:01

Tuck hair in and wear hoods.

I don't own an umbrella. I think they are rubbish.

Sarahandduck18 · 01/09/2018 20:01

Have t used an umbrella for years.

Tuck and hood

SoyDora · 01/09/2018 20:02

No I wouldn’t buy this.

Judashascomeintosomemoney · 01/09/2018 20:02

They sell these umbrellas in Hong Kong (and probably other Asian countries prone to rainy seasons). They are the same price as other umbrellas (give or take depending on quality, brand etc). Not sure why anyone would pay more for them than other umbrellas.

hula008 · 01/09/2018 20:03

There are already "long" clear umbrellas you can use

kaytee87 · 01/09/2018 20:06

Oh and I hardly ever use an umbrella anyway as they're impossible to hold whilst dealing with small children

I have never noticed the end of my hair getting wet because a normal umbrella doesn’t cover it, and mine is waist length. It’s not a thing.

MulberryPeony · 01/09/2018 20:10

Never had an issue with a normal umbrella when I had waist length hair to be honest. I wouldn’t buy a special one.

pitapizzapie · 01/09/2018 20:11

I have an old lady plastic rain hood, love it. Coat hoods stop you being able to look round effectively, and umbrellas are only good if you happen to carry one, have a free hand, and it's one of those rare thing days with no wind.

I'm hoping to bring them back into fashion. Who's with me?

didyouseetheflaresinthesky · 01/09/2018 20:11

I just stuff it down my jacket

negomi90 · 01/09/2018 20:12

Hood with hair up to keep hair dry and off my face in the rain.
Umbrella sometimes to keep a bag dry.

RandomMess · 01/09/2018 20:14

I have very long hair, this is a non issue, umbrella keeps it dry??? Although I usually tuck it in use a hood!

pitapizzapie · 01/09/2018 20:15

Seriously, I would buy multiple nice patterned rain bonnets. With funky prints. Try that as a business idea? Could start small, but could snowball.

ShinyMe · 01/09/2018 20:16

I hate umbrellas but when I did use them I never noticed that they were any different for long hair. I have waist length hair and a normal umbrella works the same as it did when I had short hair. I can't see how the length of your hair makes a difference to the effectiveness of an umbrella, sorry OP. I can't see it being a viable project.

Having said that, some people will buy anything if it's marketed right.

ErrolTheDragon · 01/09/2018 20:16

Never had any problem with long hair and a normal brolly. ConfusedThough I prefer a proper goretex walking coat if it's really wet.

It's wind which is the bugger, buffs are very helpful.

LaurieMarlow · 01/09/2018 20:17

Umbrellas are totally impractical once you have kids. I now don't buy coats that don't have hoods. I wouldn't buy such a product.
