I've had GHD's but the plates are now on their way out so need a new pair.

Browsing on Amazon the choice is massive for reasonably priced ones. Does anyone have a recommendation for ones that actually work well? My hair dries straight so it's just something decent to finish it off.

Thanks in advance :)

These are the ones I've seen and think look a bit different and a change from black! Zara from Love Island has beautiful hair and keeps recommending their products

I wouldn’t get ghds again. I had a pair that lasted me for 10 years and when they died 3 years ago, I was bought a new set for Christmas, they just didn’t feel like ghds. I don’t know what it is about them, but the feel really inferior to the old ones. Wonder if they’re manufactured differently.
Anyway, apparently cloud nines are supposed to be good.

Gildedcage · 29/08/2018 18:57

I can’t really recommend really but I’ve been looking at Paul Mitchell ones for my DD. They are apparently rated for black hair, but can’t comment from personal experience.

Ozil10 · 29/08/2018 18:58

I think the feel of GHD's are always different, everything else tends to feel more plastic I think.

However I wanted to give another brand a try and see what they're like. If not I can always get GHD's again.

I have thick prone to frizz hair and love my cloud nines.

Advice79 · 29/08/2018 19:00

Definitely these. I have waist length, frizzy full thick hair- my wide plated GHD's broke- after researching I replaced with "she" straighteners. I can do my hair in 10/15 mins and it's perfect!! They also do a "normal" plate size too

I always had GHD but then they reduced the temp. Cloud9 for me now. They are excellent.

(Have heard good things about the SteamPod too so would quite like one of those!)

Advice79 · 29/08/2018 19:02

**these are manufactured by the original GHD manufacturers- GHD changed there manufacturer in 2008- I think GHD is now an inferior product

Heartland3 · 29/08/2018 19:04

I'm a hairdresser and gave up on GHDS a long time ago! I use coroliss and they are brilliant. Very reasonably priced and you can choose your heat setting which is a fab extra Smile

Agentornika · 29/08/2018 19:05

Cloud 9's what you want

Cloud9

I would never go back to ghd now

Starlight345 · 29/08/2018 19:23

Following mine broke this weekend

BitchQueen90 · 29/08/2018 19:25

Cloud 9 for sure. GHDs really damaged my hair.

specialsubject · 29/08/2018 19:36

GHD have turned the wick down and unless you have the skills and patience of a hairdresser, they don't work well on fuzzy hair. I had lessons and they sort of work - and the reduced temperature does reduce damage.

apart from that not much difference from my £30 Remingtons.

witchofzog · 29/08/2018 19:42

I agree with Advice
I have had my SHE straighteners for 15 years and they are still fabulous.

Haberpop · 29/08/2018 19:43

Cloud9 here

tryagain · 29/08/2018 19:44

Has anyone tried the Remington air plates?. They have good reviews and I have a voucher for Remington's products.
Sorry to hijack OP Flowers

mydogmymate · 29/08/2018 19:46

Cloud9 here too. I have the thickest, coarsest hair and I'm turned into a goddess by them Confused

Ronnyhotdog · 29/08/2018 19:46

Cloud 9 for me, had GHDs previously wouldn’t go back to them now.

Ozil10 · 29/08/2018 19:46

Thank you for all your help :)

I'll give Cloud 9 a try

I bought my GHDs in 2004, I still have them now, and they are still going strong despite being used almost every day! I'd never get anything else.

Alienspaceship · 29/08/2018 20:04

SteamPod! I’ve never looked back for my thick, frizzy hair. Doesn’t damage like GHDs.

marvellousnightforamooncup · 29/08/2018 20:06

I've had my Corioliss ones for ten years now and they're great

TheOxymoron · 30/08/2018 08:18

Cloud 9 wide iron. Fantastic!
