I asked my sister if she could collect a large item for me from argos (she drives, I dont) she said yes and told me to reserve it. Anyway she said she would collect it either sunday or monday. On monday she said she would collect it at 5pm, it was bank holiday so was closed early so couldnt. Then she said she would collect it after her appointment today and instead has gone straight home and I didnt really want to have to remind her again as its just sounds like im bugging. I wouldnt mind if she said no she couldnt do it but aibu to be annoyed that she said she would?

Sounds like she's just forgetting?

Creeper8 · 28/08/2018 17:14

3 times? The offer ends today. I felt like if I mentioned it anymore I would be bugging.

She tried once and the shop was shut, then she forgot once. It happens.

Crunchymum · 28/08/2018 17:16

Pay the 3.99 and get it delivered?

MsHopey · 28/08/2018 17:16

Can't you pay online and then they can't change the price and then give you 2 weeks to collect. Something like that. If you don't collect they normally just refund you.
That way your sister gets more time to collect it and you still get it at the same price.

MsHopey · 28/08/2018 17:17

They fast track it too making it even easier for your sister to collect.

Lethaldrizzle · 28/08/2018 17:18

Just get it delivered or learn to drive

InspectorIkmen · 28/08/2018 17:20

Get a taxi? A bus? A friend to help? Learn to drive? Have it delivered? So many options...

Creeper8 · 28/08/2018 17:20

Its not available for delivery. She didnt try she said “oh I will get that tv now” AT 5pm bank holiday monday, she obviously knee it wouldnt be open.

TroubledLichen · 28/08/2018 17:21

If you can’t pick it up yourself then why not order it online instead? She might be busy/not have the time (or perhaps even be a bit annoyed if you often ask for favours because you don’t drive) but doesn’t know how to say no.

TroubledLichen · 28/08/2018 17:22

Sorry x posted. Get a taxi then if it’s not available for delivery.

Creeper8 · 28/08/2018 17:22

Its a large item. CANT get in on yhe bus. Cant get a taxi as have 4 kids and no one to watch them. Point is she said she would get it. cant learn to drive have no one to watch my kids.

troodiedoo · 28/08/2018 17:23

why didn't you fast track pay for it?

have you given her the money to pay for it?

Tartyflette · 28/08/2018 17:27

Just pay for it online and it's reserved for you, the price won't then change. You - or she - will have a specified time period in which to collect it.

Moominfan · 28/08/2018 17:28

I think people are missing point she agreed. Op your going to have to remind her

Creeper8 · 28/08/2018 17:28

WAS gonna transfer it when she goes. I dont want to really pay for it fast track £300 if she never collects it!

OP posts:
Gazelda · 28/08/2018 17:30

If you still want the item, you're going to have to
1 remind her or
2 pay for it online to 'buy' yourself a bit more time

HannahHut · 28/08/2018 17:31

Argos here was open until six on bank holiday Monday. Sounds like she just forgot. Can't you get a taxi? Surely the cost of a taxi there and back would be better if it still added up to less than the original price?

MsHopey · 28/08/2018 17:34

Okay. It's shit that she forgot. But people are giving you lots of different ideas and you're just shooting everyone down. What exactly do you want to happen right this second?
The stores closed, your sister isn't picking it up today, you have till midnight to get it at a reduced price. Choose an above option and that's it really.

troodiedoo · 28/08/2018 17:36

if you don't pick up a paid for item, it gets refunded. but you have two weeks to do so.

But just remind your sister until she picks it up, is all you can do.

Buzzlightyearsbumchin · 28/08/2018 17:41

Cant get a taxi as have 4 kids and no one to watch them

Of course you can. Get a 7 seater taxi, there will be plenty of room in the boot. Failing that pay a man with a van to pick up for you.

RaspberryRuffless · 28/08/2018 17:42

I can see why you'd be annoyed. She said she'd do it and hasn't. I'd pay for it online so you get if for the current price, also gives more time to be collected. Then you could text your sister to say something like "just letting you know I paid for the TV online so just needs picked up and not paid for anymore" or whatever. Then you're also reminding her without actually telling her to remember to collect it.

Creeper8 · 28/08/2018 17:43

Its one week as I done fast track before not two weeks. Obviously I thought of the above options but they are not doable hence why I “shot them down” I cant get a baby 3 kids a large item and a pram into a taxi not do able. and argos has different opening hours everywhere it was 5pm here as I checked. My local argos closes 4.30 on sundays whereas all other shops are 5. Different argos different opening times.

Creeper8 · 28/08/2018 17:45

Man with a van is £30 min here. thats very costly. Anyway your missing the point she said she would do it!!

OP posts:
Buzzlightyearsbumchin · 28/08/2018 17:46

You don't need the pram. Carry, or use a sling, for the baby. Get the bus in. Call the taxi, and get a member of staff to help you out to the taxi with it. You'll literally be going into town then straight back home again so no need for the pram.
