Theresa May's jackets

I think they always look to short for her. Is it me? Or is that a fashion I don't know about? Which would be no surprise to me I admit.

I wonder if people would be commenting on her outfits if she were a man.

longwayoff I agree but I have issues with jacket lengths generally especially with trousers! I know it should be about what she does and not what she wears but I do wish TM would get some advice from a stylist on how best to dress for her standard middle aged figure especially if she doesn't want to stick to a uniform of shift dresses and jacket! And actually there are many men who would benefit from similar advice!

Eem in this case gender is immaterial. TM is wearing a jacket that doesnt fit. It would be as odd and noticeable on a man as on a woman. PM should be getting better tailor.

She needs to lose those beads as well. they don't even match with what she wears.

I'm pretty sure they would if for example his trousers were too short or he wore silly socks or an odd tie.

She looks fine. Miles better than scruffy Boris Johnson or Jacob Rees-Mogg with his suit jacket that makes him look like a badly-dressed mortician. I'm grateful she's spending more focus on running the country and not on creating the perfect wardrobe. As long as she looks tidy and presentable I don't give a toss what she wears.

Plenty of people comment on Boris's hair. Michael Foot got endless stick for his duffel coat. John Major was the grey man in blue underpants and David Cameron got stick for the holiday snaps that showed off his paunch.

So, back to the jackets. I think they look a bit short because her posture isn't great.

Seriously, the posters that jump in with the “bet you wouldn’t say that about a man/when” see gender a hell of a lot more than the average person! I thought “Theresa May, jackets” when I read the op, not “Theresa May, jacket, omg, woman, clothes, sexism, outrage!”

Teresa May opened herself up to discussion / judgement about her clothes way back when she used her shoes as a device to appear more human.
Her problem is that she has bad posture and no muscle tone, so no matter how good her clothes are, they look terrible on her. She has long legs and a short body, but the short jackets emphasise that rather than disguise it. I believe that her husband chooses her clothes, and it would seem that he's not as good at it as he might like to think.

I like that she wears trousers a lot, many women in the public eye don't do that.

She walks with a stoop and looks like a praying mantis.

It’s the necklaces I worry about. Even my aesthetically challenged OH comments on how atrocious they are.

She should dye her hair and grow it out of that ghastly helmet style. The statement necklaces are so ageing, too.

Boris looks comfortable in his skin. His clothes are fine on him.
Mogg is just a caricature so he doesn’t count. Ludicrous creature.

She finds it hard to fit into human clothes with her evil alien body.

Yes, sadly it's her posture. Men's clothes hang badly when they stoop too. I think her stoop has got worse with age though, so probably not something she can do anything about

I think her wide trousers and flat shoes looked quite good.

Here. I agree the jacket doesn’t look great. Not sure about the neckline of her top.

Am a big fan of trousers and flats on a woman in the public eye as it seems to be so rare, and is much more practical. With a longer jacket I think this outfit would be quite youthful.
