I think they always look to short for her. Is it me? Or is that a fashion I don't know about? Which would be no surprise to me I admit.

Oh I don't know now. In that example I think the jacket could actually be shorter, certainly more fitted. I like the trousers and shoes but wide trousers and a long jacket is a bit shapeless? The red jacket is neither one thing or the other

CoperCabana · 28/08/2018 15:52

Looking again, I think you are right. More fitted. For me, I think full length sleeves would look better too.

missmsormrs · 28/08/2018 15:55

Longer jacket and three quarter sleeves or shorter jacket and longer sleeves. Both make a long limbed person look like their clothes are too small.

I’ve always thought this was some misguided attempt to look tall, some sort of power thing, but if it’s her husband who chooses her clothes then he’s just bad at it!

missmsormrs · 28/08/2018 15:56

By having both short jacket and shorter sleeves I mean, makes it look as if it doesn’t fit

longwayoff · 28/08/2018 17:22

Husband presumably choosing ready made. She can afford bespoke and should do so, she'd look a lot more sleek.

I thought her clothes choices were to do with her being tall.

foxtiger · 28/08/2018 18:10

I normally try not to comment on politicians' clothes but I saw a clip of her earlier where I thought exactly the same thing. I've been reading a few articles recently about the "golden ratio" in clothing - the aim is to make the proportions of your outfit look roughly 1/3 torso and 2/3 legs, so for shorter people wearing a shorter top or a high-waisted dress can make your proportions look good. The trouble is, I think TM has already got very long legs for her overall size, and if anything she needs to go the other way and wear longer tops to balance them out. it's not one-size-fits-all advice. Her trousers sometimes seem a bit loose and flappy too, but I suppose it would be inappropriate for her to wear very skinny trousers where she works!

Bestseller · 28/08/2018 18:14

Thinking about it, it's quite unusual to see a smartly dressed professional woman of her age wearing trousers at all so perhaps that makes it all seem incongruous as we're used to seeing them in skirt suits?

eddiemairswife · 28/08/2018 18:31

I think she stoops because she's tall, but generally she looks OK; Boris is a mess, but that's part of the persona he has created.

specialsubject · 28/08/2018 18:36

she is 61 so she has grey hair. dyeing is so ageing, ref the boots skincare ad with the ballerina.

nice to see a female actually able to walk in her shoes. most wear ghastly staggerers and waddle about.

Neshoma · 28/08/2018 18:39

It's her posture, but she always looks smart, professional and happy in what she wears. Leave her alone.

ScottishInSwitzerland · 28/08/2018 18:41

I think she dresses fine. She often looks like death warmed up but to be fair so would I if I had her job.
