I really don't know what to do. Any ideas please how toget it out!!!
My son is having football practice and when it ends i need to drive! But I can't, not with the spider in it

It will be fine. It most probably got out at some point and is no longer in the car. It won't hurt you.

partdeux · 25/08/2018 09:49

That's not helping Sad
I really need to KNOW that it's out

partdeux · 25/08/2018 09:49

I've started taking everything out of the boot first.
No sign

I was going to say use a hand held Hoover and suck every inch of the car up but realised you are not home.

Op I would be exactly the same. I would move if I saw more than one in my house Grin

Zoflorabore · 25/08/2018 09:51

It will prob be under a seat or something, the buggers like to play hide and seek.

Canshopwillshop · 25/08/2018 09:53

Newjob - you are obviously not phobic about spiders 😅 OP - I totally understand and would be afraid of crashing if the beast suddenly made an appearance whilst I was driving. I think I’d have to ask someone else to pick up DS, then get someone to have a thorough check of your car - is that possible?

MaverickSnoopy · 25/08/2018 09:53

Torch on phone....shine it around a bit and make some noise?

Canshopwillshop · 25/08/2018 09:55

Oh lord, sorry just realised you are out! Surely there is another parent st footie practice who can help you look.

partdeux · 25/08/2018 09:57

I don't know anyone there. Most people drop off and pick up and don't stay.
I have my 3yo, but not much help.
It's a 7 seater, so a lot of places to hide
I'm sort of feeling like I might actually loose itSad

I wouldn’t be able to get in the car myself. Are there any men around that could help ?

partdeux · 25/08/2018 10:02

My mum says to put the heating on?

OP posts:
Canshopwillshop · 25/08/2018 10:03

Is there a shop nearby? Just wondering if you could get some insect spray and spray the inside then leave it a while? I don’t normally kill spiders but in these circumstances ...

Muckingfuddle123 · 25/08/2018 10:05

Is there a shop nearby? Fly spray ? Spray the whole car, under the seats everywhere??

partdeux · 25/08/2018 10:07

No shops close, would be at least 20min walk
With 3yo longer

Sorry x posted

Are there any men around that could help ?

Confused Why men? Why not women who don't mind spiders?

partdeux · 25/08/2018 10:08

I'm still looking for it but nothing
And I'm really struggling to get in the car to move seats etc

It was pretty dangerous already because my DS discovered it onthe ceiling on the way here! Then kicked it somewhere with his bag - it was just above his headConfused

Anxious2niteaaah · 25/08/2018 10:11

Op do you have a jar of some kind, like a jam jar, or even a cotton bud container (empty of course...)..

Place it over the spider, spider will run up the sides into it, quickly put in lid, then release the spider into the garden or something...I keep a jar handy for that purpose in the house, makes spider catching much less traumatic when you don't have to actually touch them or risk having them drop on youGrin

Anxious2niteaaah · 25/08/2018 10:12

Op if you are ok with killing the spider just spray something like hairspray or deodorant on it and it will stun it ling enough for you to grab it with tissue

BrokenWing · 25/08/2018 10:14

Nightmare, I had this once, the bugger was under my sun visor and appeared running around the car ceiling while I was driving. I pulled over and called dh who came out and couldn't find the spider.

We swapped cars for around 3 weeks to make sure it didn't make a reappearance.

I really didn't know the answer but understand your fear. Realistically its going to be nigh on impossible to find it so it's likely you are going to have to drive and just try to be prepared that its not going to hurt you and if it does reappear to pull over as calmly as possible.

BrokenWing · 25/08/2018 10:17

If your ds hit it with his bag there is a good chance is dead already, you just can't see it in the darkness of the car.

StartingAgain1 · 25/08/2018 10:17

Have a look for webs, shoukd be near. I always get spiders in my car. Tend to find them at the top of the windscreen and also in the doors/wing mirror.
I think it will be hiding from you both now so you should be ok to get home

partdeux · 25/08/2018 10:18

Jar will not help if I can't find the thing!
I have no concerns about killing i have a kids beach spade ready
But I cannot find it!!!
Time is running out. 13 min left
Ive put the heating onConfused

Wtf?!?! I'm not afriad of spiders and would happily help, but apparently my vagina disqualifies me from the job. Confused

OP, you need to step away and think rationally about your options.
A. Drive the car home, reminding yourself that it has probably already gone, and doing lots of relaxing breathing / singing stupid songs very loudly at the top of your voice with your dcs to distract yourself.
B. Leave the car there, call a taxi, get someone else to deal with it later (obviously only works if you've got someone else willing to do so and can suck up the expense of the taxi fare).
C. Ask other people at practise to help you find the spider, accept that they will most likely think you are a bit bonkers and may not find it anyway. Then do either A or B to get home.

Cant really see that there are any other options?

ajandjjmum · 25/08/2018 10:20

Happened to DD - she was driving and called at a petrol station having a bit of a fit! The petrol station guy laughed at her, then came out and said 'goodness, it's big', lunged at it and spider disappeared into the roof lining!

I ended up driving over to pick up her car, and she drove mine back. We then had her car fumigated by a wasp exterminator.

Not really helpful to you OP - but you're not the only one to react dramatically. Shock
