One ran across the dashboard once and I was in the same situation picking up my son and it was dark. We looked everywhere with phone lights but couldn’t find it.
Eventually drove home terrified and got dh to look. No joy. I got it cleaned the next day and still nothing so I think it got out on its own.
Have a really good look around the driving seat so at least you know it’s not there.

I found a room parfume spray and spraying that everywhere, I know it probably won't help but what can i do

Haven't got anything to offer but Thanks
I woke up this morning to a giant spider on the wall our bed is against. Had to get DP to deal with it. Confused

Catch the bus home with your DS. Then go back with your DH (if you have a DH) later and swap cars on the way home.

Beaverhausen · 25/08/2018 10:29

Apologies probably not the right time to say this but just had this vision of you with a kids spade vigorously bashing away at something in the boot yelling "just fucking die already!".

Can you imagine the other parents faces lol

partdeux · 25/08/2018 10:33

That's it, time is out
Didn't get itSad
Car smells of strongly of fig
I'm terrified of the drive home

You can do it, stay calm and you'll be safe. Mines never did make a reappearance in the car and it is most likely yours won't either.

Zoflorabore · 25/08/2018 10:40

Good luck op, you've tried your best. How old is the bigger ds? Maybe sit him in the front with you ( if allowed/able to ) and if the bugger appears then ds can deal with it while you drive quickly

You can do this. Just think of getting home and you will soon be thereFlowers

He11y · 25/08/2018 10:48

Are you safely home?

Anxious2niteaaah · 25/08/2018 10:52

Op if you are worried about the spider still being in there take your car for a wash and valet, they will Hoover and clean the inside and if there is any spider still there it won't be after its been valeted

partdeux · 25/08/2018 10:58

I'm home!
Thanks so much for such kind posts.

Having a cup of tea first then working up the courage to go and hoover the car, then get some insect spray (hopefully our closest shops will have some)
Will check valeting prices but i doubt they'll come out straight away to do it.
We have to go to a birthday party later, so will need to drive again today

You need to get some help for your phobia or you're going to make your kids afraid.

Anxious2niteaaah · 25/08/2018 11:48

Op you don't have to have someone to come out to valet it, drive it to one of those manual car wash and valet places, they are really cheap and will do it while you wait

PumpkinPie2016 · 25/08/2018 12:06

Bless you OP - I would be the same! All well and good people saying get help for your phobia but I have tried and it didn't work!

Do you have a car valet place nearby? Two it there to be valeted as they will do it while you wait?

Or, now you are home, if possible, Hoover the car out - you will likely hear it to up the tube if you Hoover it up.

Or organise trading in the car of it can't be found - there's no alternativeGrin

pachiano1 · 25/08/2018 12:12

Are there any men around that could help ?

Hmm

OP, I am ok with spiders but terrified of wasps so I totally understand! Give it a good vacuum out and it should be ok, you will either get the spider or it will casually crawl out of the car when you leave the door open and wonder where the fuck it is Grin

Canshopwillshop · 25/08/2018 12:51

Glad you are home safe. Sell the car!

Miraclesparklestars · 25/08/2018 14:02

Glad you're home safe!

I'm the same as you and keep finding spiders in my bed! One came right up in my face before I noticed it! Grin

Jennywren2978 · 25/08/2018 22:21

With the weather changing recently spiders have started to come out of their hiding spaces. I am phobic and had 2 scary encounters in the last 24 hrs. Last night was laying in bed, head on pillow reading from my phone when a mahoosive spider walked right in front of my face between me and the phone (i was laying on my side). I literally catapulted out of bed swiping the bloody thing across the room with my hand. Didn't see where it went so was checking everywhere like bed, on my pyjamas, behind units. Couldn't sleep for hours for fear of it climbing into bed with me. Next encounter, I swear it was the same spider out to get me, pulled back dds curtains and there was spidey staring at me from the inner lining. Ran so fast out of there and got someone to extract beasty from the house. I couldn't have driven a car if I saw one in there and then it disappeared so I understand your worry.

Tillytrotter123 · 25/08/2018 22:33

Please buy one of these, it's changed my life! I'm terrified of the beasts but this has enabled me to catch even the huge ones and put them outside totally unharmed. £8 ish on Amazon! Best thing I ever bought!
