I'm 33... He's bloody gorgeous and we've really hit it off. Plus he's wealthy as fuck.

I'm 40 and I would if I wanted to date, it's perfectly legal, go for it.

NewYearNewMe18 · 19/08/2018 16:35

Who ever said women we shallow ?

IHaveBrilloHair · 19/08/2018 16:36

Yeah that bit made me cringe a little

veggiethrower · 19/08/2018 16:37

Go for it. Just be aware that it might not turn in to anything long term - ie. don't get overinvested too quickly.
My DP is 13 years younger than me.

BlairWaldorfsHeadband · 19/08/2018 16:37

Youre both adults, if you like him go for it.

Joovy · 19/08/2018 16:38

Apologies for the cringe - but it's because he's incredibly self driven. Not parental inheritance money or family trust fund.

Go for it!

cleaningtwenty · 19/08/2018 16:41

Posted too soon. My husband is many years younger than me, married for ages, life’s too short not to go with what you want.

RatRolyPoly · 19/08/2018 16:43

Why wouldn't you??

thecatneuterer · 19/08/2018 16:44

I'm 56. I'm with a 23 year old. We've been together for 3 years and it's probably the best relationship I've ever been in. And the age gap (at the moment) hasn't caused any problems. (I'm not naive enough to think it won't in the future though).

An 11 year age gap is nothing and I don't know why you're even thinking about it.

stevie69 · 19/08/2018 16:44

And I'm 51 and, if I liked him, so would I.

Enjoy Smile

I worry about relationships where there is a power imbalance. Actually, cringy as the wealthy thing is, it does make it more likely to be equal.

Bluelady · 19/08/2018 16:45

Have fun while it lasts. That's what I told a friend in the same situation. She did just that. They're just celebrated their tenth wedding anniversary.

Aroundtheworldandback · 19/08/2018 16:48

You mean his parents are wealthy? I’m sure they’ll be delirious with joy watching you help them spend it.

SnuggyBuggy · 19/08/2018 16:49

No harm in dating him, you can always split up if it's not working.

Tomatoesrock · 19/08/2018 16:51

If he is mature then why not? You're only as old as the man you feel.

YourMilkshakeIsBetterThanMine · 19/08/2018 16:52

I'll rephrase it for you.

"Can I - an adult human - date another adult human?"

Yes, you can!

sittingonacornflake · 19/08/2018 16:54

@Aroundtheworldandback no if you read the OPs update she has confirmed it is not family money.

Emmageddon · 19/08/2018 17:01

Why not? I'm not sure that his wealth has any bearing on your relationship though. It does make you sound shallow.

N0bodysM0t · 19/08/2018 17:03

I couldn't be bothered. Flattering. But meh. Also, his wealth means jack shit. Not like you're going to end up married for decades is it, not like he's the father of your kids!

Have a quick fling thoguh................?

Mummyoflittledragon · 19/08/2018 17:04

thecatneuterer
😂 wow. Now that’s an age gap.

As others have said, fine by us!

amusedbush · 19/08/2018 17:05

I’m genuinely curious and not just trying to be an arsehole but how does a 53 year old start dating a 20 year old? My dad wasn’t even 53 when I was 20. It’s just such a large age gap, I can’t imagine how a relationship would start up.

ShadyLady53 · 19/08/2018 17:08

I’m a similar age to you and work in a senior position with people of the age of the guy...I couldn’t deal with that big an age gap and would feel a bit like I was wasting my time but if it appeals to you then that’s all that matters. I doubt people would bat an eyelid.
