Title based on what a college professor used to tell us when the going got tough.

"Just remember when you're standing shoulder deep in horse shit, there's a pony in there somewhere. So just keep digging".

What subject was the professor teaching?!!

Thanks for the new thread. A pony would be a welcome distraction. This one, it so happens, looks like a sheepy-buffalo creature. Not fake though. Smile

Thank you for the new thread Across (love the title) and thanks lion for the wee pony Smile

Tom Arnold isn't exactly what you'd call a 'steady' person so this is 'pinch of salt' stuff.
Also I do think that if and when an "N" tape surfaces it will have zero effect on GOP or Republican voters.
Trump passed that level of red line months ago.

Trump tells WSJ he would have announced the Brennan thing last week but it was “too hectic.” He was on vacation at his New Jersey golf club — golfing, dining with friends and holding a few events.

President Trump said in an interview that his steel tariffs are saving an iconic American industry that was in danger of closing; others disagree

Thank Across.

TheClaws · 16/08/2018 07:34

Aww, that pony. He’s standing there thinking, “Those horses’ poo surely does stink. Not like mine ...”

Thanks for the new thread, Across!

Roussette · 16/08/2018 07:36

Thanks Across and great thread title and quote from your college professor!

Does anyone else try and imagine what it's going to be like after Trump (whatever happens). When I read articles on him needing fluffers to tell people to say nice things, I am Shock. A POTUS should be big and strong and capable. Trump is weak and needy and pathetic. I just wonder what we'll be like looking back and assessing all of this...

Thanks for all the links, people, love that tom Arnold/Jimmy Kimmel thing... hilarious!

lettuceWrap · 16/08/2018 07:39

Lion, love the wee Shetland pony.

So, Trump’s tweets over the last few hours reek of fear and anger (or maybe desperation). So vicious and nasty. I wonder what his base really think of his behaviour?

This is incredible. Devin Nunes hasn't 'held a town hall' in his constituency for 8 years, and now the town hall calls 911 on those who attend his office.

Excellent....a denouncement of 45's 'dirty war' against the media. It's reached the UK's shores too. What was 100 US news org's protesting today... it has now reached 350 organisations. They are all headlining their protest today, Thursday

I concur.

the best distillation of media-Trump relationship will be when Kavanaugh skates through confirmation while an Omarosa tape about how many diet Cokes the president consumed is studied like the Zapruder film

Thanks for the thread Across. That's a great saying and v pertinent right now.

My mind is boggling right now. Trump's behaviour is beneath contempt but there are no words for the GOP behaviour.

You get what you vote for:
[Nunes] Election history
In 2002 Nunes ran for the Republican nomination in the 21st congressional district, a new district created through reapportionment after the 2000 United States Census. His principal opponents in the crowded seven-way primary were former Fresno mayor Jim Patterson and state Assemblyman Mike Briggs. Nunes was the only major candidate from Tulare County; Patterson and Briggs were both from Fresno. This was critical, as 58% of the district's population was in Tulare County.[15] Patterson and Briggs split the vote in Fresno County, allowing Nunes to win by a four-point margin over Patterson, his nearest competitor. Nunes won 46.5% of the vote in Tulare County and 28.1% of the vote in Fresno County. Nunes was also helped by a strong showing in the rural part of the district.[16] He won the endorsements of the California Farm Bureau and The Fresno Bee.[15] The district is solidly Republican, and Nunes coasted to victory in November. He has been reelected seven times against only nominal Democratic opposition.[17][18] He ran unopposed in the 2010 general election.
Nunes's district was renumbered the 22nd after the 2010 census. It lost most of eastern Tulare County to the neighboring 23rd District, and now has a small plurality of Hispanic voters. Despite these changes, it is no less Republican than its predecessor. Nunes was reelected with 62% of the vote in 2012, 72% in 2014, and 68% in 2016.[19][20][21]
During the 2014 election cycle, Nunes received approximately $1.4 million in political action committee (PAC) contributions.[22] During the 2016 election cycle, he received approximately $1.6 million in campaign contributions from PACs.[23]
In the November 2018 general election, Nunes will face Democrat Andrew Janz, a Fresno County prosecutor.[24] In the June 2018 top-two primary, Nunes received 57.6% of the vote; Janz received 31.7%.[25]

Me too, North. When was the last time Kav.'s name was mentioned in a TV report, or any interest shown in his dubious history/the consequences of his appointment? There has been some continuing written press coverage. But, hours of TV coverage of OMN, revisiting 'Access Hollywood ', endless clips we have seen a thousand times before illustrating his attitude/treatment of women, followed by discussion covering the same ground. Everyone knows what he is, and those who care do not need constant reminders of what we know he has done.

Yep, Gideon Resnick has that bang on.
