That everyone in Unforgotten talks in a very stilted way

It is the weirdest thing, every bloody character, pauses ...between...every...word

Yes!! Nicola Walker does this to the extreme in every part she plays. And now the other characters are following suit.

Totally agree, it's infuriating to watch, pretty sure the show would be over in 30mins if they talked properly

5foot5 · 14/08/2018 22:41

Nope. I have been totally hooked from the start of the series and have not found this a problem at all

ToadOfSadness · 14/08/2018 22:42

I watched the first episode of the new series last night and thought that Nicola Walker was doing it more than usual. It is annoying. Why on earth does she do it? And has she ever smiled in anything?

Upsy1981 · 14/08/2018 22:43

I love this series. Haven't been gripped to something for ages. Haven't noticed the speech, but I probably will now!

RaynaJaymes · 14/08/2018 22:45

Nicola Walker definitely does cos DH comments every week but bloody love this programme so I’ll overlook it

Bingisatwat · 14/08/2018 22:46

Just finished series 2 on Netflix, is there a series 3?!

JeansandJumpers · 14/08/2018 22:46

That's it Ozil10...at first I thought, oh its just Nicola Walker, but now the bloody rest of them? No one talks like that in real life. It really drags it out! Its like line of duty on a slow play.

ToadOfSadness, she may have smiled in that recent one where for some reason she was cast as some sex goddess yet was clearly batting way out of her league with that sexy scandinavian. I think she is just on the BBC hot list right now..

cardibach · 14/08/2018 22:47

Yes, all on iPlayer.
She does pause a bit, but it isn’t intrusive as far as I can see.

starsinyourpies · 14/08/2018 22:59

ITV player has the third series!

Totally agree Nicola Walker has very annoying way of talking but still love the programme.

georgie262 · 15/08/2018 11:50

Yes! My husband always jokes that the lead character has forgotten her lines, once that's what you're thinking it becomes really funny to watch

chickenowner · 15/08/2018 12:05

I know what you mean but I love it, my DP and I are hooked!

longwayoff · 15/08/2018 12:13

What Rayna said. But Nicola Walker we love you now so lay off the stuttering. Its really annoying, especially in that awful lawyer thing from earlier in the year which I'll be happy to never see again.

ElfridaEtAl · 15/08/2018 12:24

You know when you don't pick up on something until someone points it out to you, and then it's all you can focus on...

Regardless of the staggered way NW speaks me & OH are hooked, can't wait for Sunday.

missyB1 · 15/08/2018 12:31

Love the program and love Nicola Walker - but yes the pausing thing after every word drives me insane! And she was even worse in that thing where she played the lawyer, I’ve noticed she actually says “err” a lot in between words. Stop it please Nicola.

longwayoff · 15/08/2018 13:47

Love nicola walker, even with the stuttering, hmm. And in the lawyer thing she looked glam, smiled a lot (! I know!) And looked great, nice clothes bet she begged wardrobe to let her keep them. But the script, dear God, it was dire. There is a second series unfortunately after which hopefully it will be disposed of.

loveka · 15/08/2018 13:53

She does that pause say err then smile thing too. In everything!

I really like her though, and even liked the lawyer thing.

What was that thing called where it turned out she was a ghost?

Guardup · 15/08/2018 13:55

OMG I’m so glad I’m not the only one to notice this. It’s like they’ve gone to the Joey Tribbiani School of acting together. That said.....I’m gripped!

UrghBullTee · 15/08/2018 13:56

She was a ghost in River.

loveka · 15/08/2018 14:02

I must watch it, have missed it so far.

I was watching that Bbc one set in Wales but it got totally ridiculous and I have stopped.

JeansandJumpers · 15/08/2018 14:11

loveka - if you mean Keeping Faith with the endless lingering 'meaningful' shots of faith with that blinking 'ooo, ooo, ooo, oo, oooo' on repeat, and very little actually happening, yeah...both getting fab reviews for some reason. Maybe I'm easily irritated these days. Mind you, no complaints about Spiral, Versailles or Poldark.

JellyBears · 15/08/2018 14:16

Nope I’ve bonged s1-2 and s3 except the last ep on Sunday and loved every minute of it. It’s called acting ;)

Gromance02 · 15/08/2018 14:29

Keeping Faith is so bad it's good. Long time since I've seen anything so terrible it is hilarious. It is like 'My Fisher Price guide to directing a tv drama and throwing every cliché and 'arty shot' in' TV!

loveka · 15/08/2018 14:48

Yes, Keeping Faith. It has just got so unbelievable now. Every episode just got more and more far fetched.

I switched it off half way through in iritation. I would quite like to know where he has gone though!

JeansandJumpers · 15/08/2018 15:21

Gromance02, nicely put...it does have a bit of the art student approach to it! I'm still watching them both as there is nothing better on (I think?).

Keeping Faith ? Everything everyone has said, cant be bothered too get to the end. Love unforgottren though, all 3 series.I will miss it but there's a new Jed Mercurio (writer Line of Duty) called the Bodyguard starting soon. Fingers crossed.
