To just lie in bed all day?

FuckyDuzz · 10/08/2018 12:20

My family have taken all of my kids out for the day today (first time anyone has had all 4 of them)
My house is a tip, I had all these grand plans to scrub it top to bottom, do a little food shop and finish painting one of the bedrooms

Only now the time has come and I am so so very tired
I have gone through a recent break up, we’re half way through the summer holidays and we had a sickness bug descend on us this week
I’m cold and tired and just feel so wobbly I’ve come back to bed

But now I have ‘the guilt’
Could you all just tell me how I’d be massively unreasonable to spend my childfree time actually being productive and having a little nap, a cup of tea and a hot bath would be a much better way to spend the day?

Self care!

Do it.

You won't regret it!!!

Storm4star · 10/08/2018 12:22

Definitely a much better way to spend the day. You need this time to recharge, and that will be of much more benefit to your DC's than any chores!

GooodMythicalMorning · 10/08/2018 12:22

You time. Go for it! The other stuff can wait.

BlueBug45 · 10/08/2018 12:23

Yes lie in bed all day, surf the net, read, watch films or trash tv and sleep.

Hellomumsne · 10/08/2018 12:24

Do it. You'll feel better for it afterwards. Bring the laptop to bed and watch cheesy Netflix movies back to back. Heaven! :)

Winter7 · 10/08/2018 12:30

Do It!!

RunningOverTheSameOldGround · 10/08/2018 12:32

I find doing some chores better with dcs around tbh. They like helping. Definitely recharge as much as you can.

WooYa · 10/08/2018 12:35

Bath and bed for you! Enjoy Grin

bonzo77 · 10/08/2018 12:36

My philosophy is that there are certain things one can only do once the kids are either all out or possibly asleep. Resting is one of them. All the chores you mentioned could be done (if with some difficulty) with the kids with you. So imo YANBU and you absolutely should go to bed.

FuckyDuzz · 10/08/2018 12:38

Ah I love you all Grin

WillowRose79 · 10/08/2018 12:38

100% do it

ThrownMuse · 10/08/2018 12:40

I followed your recent break up thread and if anyone needs a day under the duvet, it's you!

BlueBug45 · 10/08/2018 12:45

OP - Shall I do SFA all day instead of housework?
Whole of mumsnet - YANBU so YES!!

GothMummy · 10/08/2018 12:49

Take care of yourself. If you feel really bad about the house then just do one thing (the washing up?) then go back to bed. I'm sure your family want you to rest not exhaust yourself.

seafret · 10/08/2018 12:52

Yes do it! Recharge :)

I would say stay off MN though as it makes time fly by too much. You want to be savouring your time and resting your brain!!

I am getting off now to have a lie down in silence!

Fucked · 10/08/2018 12:58

I've seen on here what you've been going through, it's been utter hell.
Spending the day in bed is the most productive, positive way you could use your time right now. Please do just that! FlowersBrewCake

MonoClue · 10/08/2018 13:05

You can’t look after everyone else if you don’t look after yourself first.
A soak in the bath followed by an afternoon in bed with a good book/film/whatever you fancy and copious amounts of tea is my prescription to you.
Have some FlowersandCakeandGin from me to help.
Enjoy.

golddustwomen · 10/08/2018 13:13

Lie there and do not move til they return home. Heaven!!

LoopyLou1981 · 10/08/2018 13:18

You definitely deserve you time!
How long until they’re back? I’d be inclined to do the most urgent of the cleaning and order a food delivery then I’d be able to properly relax into the time I had left. I’d definitely be splitting the time 25/75 in favour of relaxation time though!xx

BigSandyBalls2015 · 10/08/2018 13:21

I've also seen your previous thread …. stay in bed, the chores can wait.

holycityzoo · 10/08/2018 13:22

I have 4 dc too so I know how hard it is.
Absolutely go back to bed and sleep, then chill out maybe have a nice bath and pamper yourself (if that's your thing) I always feel better with clean hair and a bit of moisturiser!
When they come home you will feel rested and a better version of yourself.
Rather than a sweaty knackered mess having run round cleaning and sorting all day.

Chocolatecoffeeaddict · 10/08/2018 13:24

I'd have to do the chores I'm afraid, but that's just me. I can't relax if I'm worrying about things that need to be done. I'd probably just do a once over and then relax.

NoIsACompleteAnswerSometimes · 10/08/2018 13:25

After work yesterday i didn't have to collect my grandson from nursery, or spend more hours on the phone trying to sort out care arrangements for my PIL's. Because of the care issues I've been dealing with, housework has been on the back burner.
I could have done some but instead I sat on the settee and watched Escape to the Country, Homes under the Hammer etc until my eyes bled! Marvellous!

gamerwidow · 10/08/2018 13:25

Do it you’ll be no good to anyone if you don’t look after yourself. If you get a bit bored after a long lie down you can always consider some housework then but rest first.

Mercedes519 · 10/08/2018 13:26

The only thing I might do is food shopping - to buy lots of treats to take back to bed with me 😜
