So the one that just bit the bullet was a Vax, I'm never having another Dyson so does anyone have a Shark or Miele? Would you recommend them?

Chalady · 04/08/2018 22:30

SHAAARK

Nodney · 04/08/2018 22:31

Watching with interest. I have a Henry and although he's a good sucker he keeps falling over when I get him stuck in doorways. He's also a pain to drag upstairs.

Shark every time!! I’ve always had dyson or vax before, Shark is far superior!!

Thehop · 04/08/2018 22:32

Shark

Looks like it's going to be a Shark then!

How big is your house OP?
We have SEBO at our 4 bedroom semi ... medium sized but we have a Bosch athlet at our 3 bed terrace. It's fantastic for a small house and highly recommended by me. SEBO works very well and has been trouble free, 2 hairy dogs, 3 teenagers , 6 years and going strong. It's just that it's heavy, a faff with the cord and plug and has bags to remember to buy. I don't believe in false economies with appliances but am sold on cordless vacuums and my only experience is my Bosch.

donkey86 · 04/08/2018 22:44

I have a Shark cordless and it’s brilliant - so light, great suction, and folds in half to fit in a small cupboard.

That said, I got it on sale for £199. The full price is something like £379 and I don’t think any hoover is worth that, though that might just be me.

Ethylred · 04/08/2018 22:44

Get whatever your cleaner tells you to get.

Lucyccfc · 04/08/2018 22:44

Def not a Miele. I had one and it would happily suck the carpet away from the wall at the edges and not pick up anything from the middle of the carpet.

I put up with it for 6 months and went back to a Dyson.

lljkk · 04/08/2018 22:46

I can't stomach Dyson since JD supports Brexit. I've only heard good things about Sharks so will be our next replacement.

borntobequiet · 04/08/2018 22:48

This happened to me and in a hurry I bought a cheapo little Bissell for about £40 just to have something.
18 months later I haven’t bothered with anything else. I have to empty it every time, but that’s OK. It’s extremely light so can use anywhere, and has excellent suction.

borntobequiet · 04/08/2018 22:49

Oh and I have two very moulty cats. It picks up all the fur.

bridgetreilly · 04/08/2018 22:50

Mine is an actual Hoover and I love it.

Skarossinkplungerridesagain · 04/08/2018 22:52

The house is a 4 bed, 3 storey detached. I've looked at SEBO and I think they look like something from a 1950's sci-fi!

I've just switched to shark after 15 years of dysons which definitely do lose suction despite their claims.

I chose the corded because the house is fairly big and we have pets and apparently the suction is better than the cordless, I'm impressed so far with how well it picks up and love the lift away feature and stairs tool.

Two downsides are the ridiculously small dust bin and I get arm ache pushing it, it's not particularly heavy just awkward to manoeuvre.

packofbaloobas · 04/08/2018 22:54

In recently got the 850 watt Tesco version that looks like a dyson. It's fantastic. Amazing suction for only 50 quid

icelolly99 · 04/08/2018 23:00

Has anyone got a Gtech Air Ram? I've had my eye on one for ages but my husband says Shark is better.

notapizzaeater · 04/08/2018 23:10

I against my better judgement bought a new Dyson, it's shite ! I've had Dyson's for years and years this one doesn't have anywhere near as much power as the old ones.

wowfudge · 04/08/2018 23:17

Sebo - we have the X4 pet model as it has a boost button. We have lots of dark, solid coloured carpets and it works a treat. I had a bagless Electrolux before and I had to empty the damn thing three times just to get round the house. The Sebo is so much better.

SadTrombone · 04/08/2018 23:20

Shaaaark 🦈

EleanorLavish · 04/08/2018 23:28
