I know someone who does this. They spend hours on makeup, hair and costumes.

I think it's weird.

Gratz · 02/08/2018 09:46

Goldshire inn?

GoneWishing · 02/08/2018 09:47

Get yer blue elf arse off the table, Gratz!

GoneWishing · 02/08/2018 09:51

OP: if it brings you joy, do it.

Seasawride · 02/08/2018 09:54

Well as long as you are careful knock yourself out

mademybed123 · 02/08/2018 09:57

Lol no costumes are harmed.

No, solely online and more...narrative driven with set characters.

Can be very R18

Why on earth would it be unreasonable to do something you enjoy?

SlartiAardvark · 02/08/2018 09:58

I do it face to face at a Wargaming & Roleplaying club - it's the most fun I've ever had with pencil, paper & dice.....

Alaaya · 02/08/2018 09:58

If it's fun and not hurting anyone, do whatever you like. And ignore any miserable so and sos who start making noises about being grown up or doing something sensible with your time.

I don't do online RP but I sometimes do tabletop gaming and it's fun. I cook a massive stew for everyone, we eat, have a glass of wine and play some D&D. DD1 has just started to play with us too and it's great.

TheQueef · 02/08/2018 10:02

Ah Grats only a niche RPer knows Goldshire or The Barrens. Wink

What are you playing? Is it Erotic role play or character based?

WaitrosePigeon · 02/08/2018 10:03

Like Sims?

LeroyJenkins · 02/08/2018 10:05

where do you do this? do you have to pay to play?

mademybed123 · 02/08/2018 10:23

No, free. It's using Twitter, so you create an account for your character, and then write a profile based on how you are, what you are looking for in terms of interaction, and comfort levels with R18, lewd content.

Story lines tend to happen on the time line, anything smutty on direct messages.

SavannahSky · 02/08/2018 10:42

Same as sexting then

TooOldForThisWhoCares · 02/08/2018 10:45

Yep I do this too. On Twitter. No smut though and have had enormous fun doing it. It's not exactly your run of the mill hobby but pure escapism for me. I'm thrilled to meet other people who do it! I've got a few online friends as a result.

TooOldForThisWhoCares · 02/08/2018 10:47

Not same as sexting at all for me. It's a form of creative writing based on characters I really enjoy becoming.

Sleepyslops · 02/08/2018 10:48

Like World of Warcraft?

wrenika · 02/08/2018 10:49

Go for it. My DP does skype role playing with a group of friends, and his sister does online RP on tumblr with strangers. Both are fine, both are fun. I write stories...I see them as being much the same only I work alone where as they work together to create a narrative.

Kittykat93 · 02/08/2018 10:59

Genuinely intrigued as I've never heard of this!

mademybed123 · 02/08/2018 11:04

Yeah not sexting, more like interactive fan fiction.

So you write your side, but have no idea what they will come back with.

TooOldForThisWhoCares · 02/08/2018 11:07

It's interesting that it's mainly women who do it too. Obviously there are some men but it's rare. Similar with fanfiction. Mostly written by women. Yes interactive fanfiction is a good term for it. My characters are all male!

LilMadAgain · 02/08/2018 11:09

The Sims Grin

placebobebo · 02/08/2018 11:09

Does anyone know where Mankrik's wife is?

mademybed123 · 02/08/2018 11:11

Oh yes, most are women, even the alpha male characters, although one of my partners is actually a guy as we have talked out of character.

The fanfiction thing is really interesting, i don't write a huge amount of smut but some of the stuff is very very explicit, often gay male and 90% by women.

So we say women don't consume porn, well that may be the case for visual porn, but they are huge producers and consumers of written porn

TooOldForThisWhoCares · 02/08/2018 11:15

Yes Slash fic is a massive thing. Not my bag either. I write M/F stuff, some smut but certainly not exclusively. Yes totally agree about women being consumers of written porn. Fanfic is also pretty derided and looked down on which is ridiculous. I have read some amazing work. But the RP stuff can also be highly creative and it's the buzz of not knowing what you will have to respond to. I'm not always great at witty comebacks in rl but am on fire during RP Grin
