To ask if I owe my DH £50?

Since moving we have dual flush toilets.

In my opinion big button = wee, big because it's the button you'll use most

In his opinion big button = poo, big because it's a bigger flush

So confident was I in my correctness that I bet him £50. Unfortunately most of the internet seems to be wrong and to side with him.

Is it possible, have I been wrong all this time?

Yep - you need to pay up!

Queenofthestress · 29/07/2018 23:11

Little button on my loo has 1 line, and big has 2, I use the rule of thumb that it means big button means poo 😂

ProudThrilledHappy · 29/07/2018 23:13

We have a dual flush cistern. Instructions said the big button was for longer flush to sweep away heavy poo. The small button is for a little flush to clear wee.

Pay up op Grin

Fabricwitch · 29/07/2018 23:13

Yep, you owe him the money!

steff13 · 29/07/2018 23:14

We have a dual flush, and the big button is for poo.

Mookatron · 29/07/2018 23:15

you owe him fifty quid, sorry.

eightfacesofthemoon · 29/07/2018 23:16

Totally owe him the money I’m afraid

DoodlingMyName · 29/07/2018 23:16

Big button = wee, big & small together = poo. So OP is right, sort of.

Dogatemyhomework666 · 29/07/2018 23:17

One will push down further.... Our small one stops halfway for a short flush (wee) if you keep pushing it the big outer button pushes down and does a big flush (poo)

So in our house big button is big flush for a poo and your DH would be right.

My nans you had to present and hold for a big flush so big button was for both just depended on how long you held it for.

eightfacesofthemoon · 29/07/2018 23:17

@DoodlingMyName
Small in its own then?? What’s that for?

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 29/07/2018 23:18

I thought the same as doodling and the OP..

AnneLovesGilbert · 29/07/2018 23:18

We have big and smaller sides and they both produce the same about of flush so you might both be wrong Grin

NotAllIndividuals · 29/07/2018 23:18

Can you lift the lid off the cistern and look? It's often not fixed in case you need to replace ball cock, hahah, ball cock. Night!

LooksBetterWithAFilter · 29/07/2018 23:20

Small button on ours is a shirt flush that is just for wee big button pushed small button down at the same time as it and is a longer/stronger flush for poo.

DoodlingMyName · 29/07/2018 23:21

Eightfaces - you never need to press the small button on it's own.

Mari50 · 29/07/2018 23:23

Every dual flush loo I’ve ever used is small button for quick flush, big (or both) for longer flush. Public loos also have instructions for similar when there are two buttons to choose from.
Pay up OP

ElementalHalfLife · 29/07/2018 23:31

I hate when that happens, OP, never put money on it unless you're absolutely sure but maybe all is not lost. Can you not do best of 3? You can come up with two other things up for debate - google the answers first of course!

Lunde · 29/07/2018 23:32

Little button = little water amount = wee
Big button = more water = poo

Think you need to pay!

PositivelyPERF · 29/07/2018 23:34

In my house, it’s either both buttons or dynamite to get rid of some of the bloody beasts my youngest does. 🤨

Fluffyears · 29/07/2018 23:38

Husband is right and your reasoning is very strange lol!

FarrahMoan · 29/07/2018 23:42

Argh I can't believe I'm wrong, that almost never happens (that I'll admit to)

Thanks for all the responses

Elemental that sounds like a great idea, I'm off to Google things I can pretend not to be sure of

Ours is a dual flush and you use the big button for a short flush. The small button also holds down the big button, so its 2 presses/flushes.

KatieMarieJ · 29/07/2018 23:46

Ours is like a big round button for small flush with a sort of crescent moon on one side that pushes both it and the big button down for a big flush so technically ours is big button small flush, small button big flush.

DoodlingMyName · 29/07/2018 23:50

Farrah, don't pay up - you're not wrong! Upstart & KatieMarie have explained it better than I did.

BrokenWing · 29/07/2018 23:54

If it's like this it is big Button small flush, both buttons big flush
