Do you eat the roe on scallops??

I’m out for dinner with 2 friends who happen to both be chefs. I ordered scallops, they’ve arrived with the roe on. I’m happy with that, I always eat it. Chef A is disgusted, says he’s never worked in a restaurant in his 20 years as a chef and served scallops with the roe on. Chef B is outraged with Chef A, says in his 15 years as a chef he has never worked in a restaurant that HASNT serves scallops with the roe on. Queue lots of arguing while I eat my scallops, roe and all.

What do you do? If you take it off, why?

*row = roe, fucking autocorrect!

I love both bits but agree with pp, they need to be cooked separately as they need different cooking times. I love any roe. It's delicious!

Ramsay doesn't cook his scallops with the roe on and I'm happy to go with his judgement because his food is amazing.
God I'm so hungry now!

I grew up in nz where they have lots of great scallops. I never saw a scallop served without the orange bit until I came to uk. Always feel a bit ripped off with a plain scallop - I do love them. .

I've generally had them served with roe. I prefer the main scallop but the roe is ok

Scallops and gin are not a winning combination though 🤢

Incase anyone was wondering!

Sounds as if you've had a good night!
Love scallops. Love gin.
Were you drinking pink gins? (kind of "corally" colour)
Thinking you may suffer tomorrow GrinGinGrin

I've just had scallops in a white wine sauce with some summer vegetables, a lovely light lunch! Wine
