For those of you that haven't seen my other thread- my dc is incredibly unwell following a heart transplant..

This morning I was in a coffee shop grabbing a coffee and something to try and eat- while on the phone to my best friend who's looking after my dc, updating her on the latest situation ect. Hung up from her paid and went and sat down until it was ready. As soon as I had sat down some person walked over and started talking about how she'd heard what we were going through she was sorry ect ect, and THEN started talking about how she's a juice plus rep and she's sure she has a product that will 100% help with his recovery!!! Like seriously!? Do what you want to make money.. but how the fuck is approaching an already stressed out near breaking point person who you don't know even remotely acceptable in anyone's brain!?

Sorry your child is unwell.

I hate MLM's for many reasons but particularly pushy sales techniques but this just takes the biscuit.

fixingabrokenhesrt · 15/07/2018 14:07

Also do any of them actually believe what they're saying!? Or is it just anything for a quick sale??

Heartless cunts. Because JUICE is the product to end all worries!

Fucker. Angry

I'm so angry for you.

If there's one small bit of comfort, at least it was a rude stranger and not someone who was already (seemingly) your friend. We had someone like that who was very persistent with Young Living essential oils when my first husband was terminally ill with cancer. She even started slagging me off to other friends, that I wasn't doing everything I could to help him because I would spend money on her quackery.

You have enough to think about right now and I'm so angry that someone dared say such a thing to you.
Peace and strength to you and your poorly DC. Flowers

isseywithcats · 15/07/2018 14:10

she would have got a two word answer from me FUCK OFF just that and blanked completely, no im not chavvy but in your situation i would have just been like What?

Somerville · 15/07/2018 14:14

All MLM sellers are primarily motivated by money and prestige.
Some of them think that their products helped them with some condition or another. But there's no scientific evidence behind any of it.

A former-friend of a close friend (MLM sales people become former-friends quite quickly) also sells Young Living oils. She's convinced they helped her of some ME type thing. Pretty offensive to people who actually have ME. Especially as she is still affected by the symptoms (which in her case I think are either laziness or depression and not ME at all) and anyone who knows her well so aware she sits around designing pretty things for instagram while letting her older kids home educate her younger kids and earn the real money for the family. Angry

What’s mlm - is it a juice or something.

Somerville · 15/07/2018 14:16

Multi level marketing. The new form of pyramid selling. It can be anything but in OP's case Juice, yeah.

Were you at the hospital? If so complain to them.

fixingabrokenhesrt · 15/07/2018 14:28

I had "friends" try to push various crap when he was first born and they were swiftly told were to fuck off to.. but this time it just fucked me off even more because A) I'm not in the best head space to deal with annoying fuckers and B) she was just some random person who has no idea about anything to do with him apart from a small snipet of conversation she's heard... and yes- a proper company wouldn't get away with the shit they pull so why do they!? I'm in sales (Legit sales not any mlm or anything like that) so I get how stressful it can be with targets and making money, but there's absolutely no excuse for targeting people at their most vulnerable making claims that are completely bullshit

OP posts:
fixingabrokenhesrt · 15/07/2018 14:29

@Chickenbhunaandoice I'd gone to one around the corner so that I could get some air at the same time

Puzzledandpissedoff · 15/07/2018 14:36

do any of them actually believe what they're saying!?

Some seem to hand over their souls in return for the riches they've been promised, so I believe they convince themselves it must all be true ... to do otherwise would force them to admit they've made a mistake, and that's not easy when you've spent ages telling everyone how wonderful it all is. Most have to confront the truth in the end of course, but whether they have any friends left by then is another matter

Wishing a good recovery for your DC and much better times ahead Flowers

AsAProfessionalFekko · 15/07/2018 14:37

Ahhh the miracle formulas that have changed the seller’s life? They are quite evangelical aren’t they?

IncorrigibleTitmouse · 15/07/2018 14:41

One of the Herbalife ones came up to me with a sample and her business card at the airport as I was waiting at baggage claim after arriving on holiday. I felt like shit for the entire holiday, so self conscious.

showmewhatyougot · 15/07/2018 15:01

It's sad how desperate they are and what depths they will fall too secure sales..

An old "friend" of mine heard a member of my family passed away, hadn't spoke to her in a while, but she messaged me some generic sympathy words, followed by a long story of how I should buy some home scents from her to relax :/

bsbabas · 15/07/2018 15:29

I want fresh orange juice now

fixingabrokenhesrt · 20/07/2018 15:24

Maybe I should of taken her up on the bloody juice 😭

MLM people are the worst. Every conversation eventually turns to whatever crap they’re peddling. Heartless and deluded. I’m sorry about your DC, I haven’t read your other thread but I hope they recover soon Flowers

fixingabrokenhesrt · 20/07/2018 15:31
