Hate my new expensive sofa

Sad Not an Aibu I know, but just posting in the hope that someone can offer ideas or advice. Our cheap, comfy fabric corner sofa was getting a bit saggy and smelly, so we decided to splash out on a leather sofa (leather essential due to the new dog, fur, smells etc). I saw a sofa I absolutely fell in love with, but DH had his heart set on a recliner so we ended up compromising on a two seater sofa and reclining armchair. It wasn't a choice I was happy with, just the best compromise we could reach. Our living room is quite narrow and we were limited in terms of what would fit.

We've had them just under a week and I hate them. The recliner has to sit right in the middle of the living room with a wire going to the plug socket, because it needs space to recline. I've always thought recliners were tacky, and having tried it, I still do. It's also already playing up. The sofa is too small and too narrow. It did seem OK in the store, and I thought I could get to like it, but it's just really not comfy and is starting to cause me back pain.

I called the company today and they have just said they have a no returns policy, which is not what their website suggests at all. Am I allowed to name them? Not sure. Anyway, I just feel bloody miserable now. All together the things cost £1800, which is a lot of money for us. Sigh.

TenThousandSpoons its the one called graceland - comes in several colours on a bunch of their sofas. I have maine coons - big huge cats who, although not very scratchy, can do a lot of damage thanks to their size. Our old sofa doesn't have a single solitary pulled thread...i found a roll of the fabric on ebay and covered my dining chairs in it too-also unscathed!

If you paid on credit card and they are faulty claim through that

The saga continues...

After the email on Sunday offering a refund, we have heard nothing. We can't get in touch with them to arrange a time for them to collect the stuff, because they can't take inbound calls apparently. So we're reduced to emailing them over and over again asking them to ring us.

Oh, also the email on Sunday included a nice passive aggressive little dig: 'We believed you had fallen in love with your sofa and felt that it was the perfect centrepiece for your home.'

No, we didn't fall in love with it, it was literally the only thing that we could both agree on.

OP I can't believe how shoddily they have treated you. And you have spent £1800!!! I would expect better treatment from a retailer who charges such extortionate prices. Or even one who doesn't.

They are really cheeky not to give you a number to contact them on and then to ignore your emails. Can you tweet about this? Or tweet them directly? I don't know how twitter works but have heard cases of retailers being shamed into doing the right thing when called out on twitter.

All of mumsnet will probably never set foot in sofology again after this thread. Rightly so.

I know, they're like Jeckyll and Hyde in terms of service before and after sale.

I emailed the CEO again today (since it seemed to do the trick last time) and am reviving this thread partly in the hope they take notice! (They are aware and have tried to post on here)

Hopefully some good will come of this thread.

A lot of retailers are two faced I find. They show you one to reel you in. Then show you their ugly side when the chips are down and you need aftercare. They have no shame.

Sofa and recliner have gone!!!!!!!
