I'm distraught!

He went for a shower last night looking like a sexier version of Gerard Butler... came downstairs sans beard and looking like a teenager. No more Ricky Wilson fantasies for me Sad

I can't even look at him Shock even DD was shocked and said he looked awful!

WIBU to LTB.

Think how much more comfortable he'll be.
Does he have a tan line?

cricketmum84 · 09/07/2018 07:10

Yup, very definite tan line GrinGrin
I think it may have had something to do with me and the kids pointing out grey hairs in (now dearly departed) beard!

I'd say not having Ricky Wilson fantasies was a bit of a bonus personally Wink I'm impressed he looked like Gerard Butler AND Ricky Wilson at the same time as they're not what I would call similar looking. Apart from having a beard. Who does your dh look like now?

PickleJuice · 09/07/2018 07:12

Noooo. I'd be devastated. Is that shallow? I'm shallow Blush Grin

cricketmum84 · 09/07/2018 07:19

@TooOldForThisWhoCares he looks like a totally nondescript teenager. No fantasies. Not even one!

He knows I have a thing for bearded tattooed men. He (rather selfishly) refuses to get a tattoo and now the beard! I think he is trying to annoy me on purpose...

My eldest daughter's boyfriend shaved his beard off and our youngest daughter who was 8 months at the time was distraught. She screamed everytime she looked at him Grin she was very mistrusting of him for about 5 months.

ElMarineroBaila · 09/07/2018 07:30

My husband didn't have a beard when I met him, about 2 years later he started to grow one and I said I hated it because it was stabbing my face when we kissed but I loved how it looked. He shaved it off and oh my god I can't believe how different he looked. He's grown it back now and it's a lot longer now so less stabby. Its bizarre how different a beard can make a man look! Of course I would still fancy him without it as, after all, that's how he looked when I met him.

mangomama91 · 09/07/2018 07:32

YADNBU!!!
I am exactly the same as you!!
I don't look at my husband when he shaves his ears off I until it starts growing back 😂😂

DereksGotATail · 09/07/2018 07:33

DH did this on holiday and I hated it. There were no photos until it grew back.

nancy75 · 09/07/2018 07:33

Op I understand your anguish!
DH knows his beard is under the jurisdiction of me & DD, he needs our approval before having beard work done. In the past he has gone rogue & shaved it off without permisssion and he looked like a bloody weirdo Grin

cricketmum84 · 09/07/2018 07:35

@mangomama91 I would be slightly perturbed if my husband shaved his ears off too GrinGrin

He didn't have a beard when we met, in fact we had 9 years beardless! But then he grew it, I loved it, it was sexy, I could stroke it. It was like a whole new man. But, alas, it is no more.

Currently hiding all the razors, this means I will have hairy legs but hey, it's a small price to pay!

I had to meet my husband in the pub after work last night.... he had to get there before me to order food before they shut the kitchen. When I got to the beer garden I didn't recognise him at 1st, and couldn't put my finger on why. Took me over an hour. Beard gone. He looks like a potato. Sad

LuMarie · 09/07/2018 07:40

LTB!

So much more handsome and sexy, I've always loved stubble beards. Most of my male friends ended up growing them because I complimented them, at length, whenever they didn't shave!

I did once say to a guy on a first date, when he mentioned having to shave, "No, on come on, take one for the team!"

I moved to France. Here facial hair is the norm, it's a chic office look, most men are rocking something sexy. Grey is ok on a guy, it's grown up sexy. It will not be ok on me, but men it looks good.

So LTB and come to Paris!

Notsofunnythesecondtime · 09/07/2018 07:42

Following on from (5000) previous threads, does his chin look prepubescent?

Blostma · 09/07/2018 07:43

DH threatened this last week after over 20 years with a beard. He changed his mind quickly enough when I told him he would look too much like his DF and it would creep me out.

cropcirclesinthefields · 09/07/2018 07:46

Dh trimmed his beard last week and I think he's taken too much off and has lost the cultured caveman look about him, luckily it's growing back nicely Grin

Onedaylikethi5 · 09/07/2018 07:46

It could be worse, my DH trotted off after the football on Saturday and shaved his head (badly!) Getting rid of his lovely, well cut, thick blonde hair and replacing it with a rather wonky buzz cut. I am trying to be supportive...

cricketmum84 · 09/07/2018 07:50

@Dunkling potato

@LuMarie book me a ticket!!

@Notsofunnythesecondtime yes that's exactly how I would describe it!!

cricketmum84 · 09/07/2018 07:52

He works in an office with 3 older women who have never seen him looking like a 14 year old... cannot wait until 5pm when I can hear about their reactions (evil chuckle)

It's good to know there are women on MN who like a beard on their husbands! I have a full beard now and am surprised at the number of positive comments I get about it from other women especially because of the anti-beard comments I see on MN. DW remains an enigma on the subject but she hasn't ordered me to shave it off so it is staying (grey hairs and all).

mangomama91 · 09/07/2018 08:02

😂😂😂 I didn't realise I wrote ears 😳😂😂😂
Beard beard beard!! *
Hahah good laugh on a Monday morning

Timeisslippingaway · 09/07/2018 08:06

"He (rather selfishly) refuses to get a tattoo and now the beard! I think he is trying to annoy me on purpose..."

Just choked on my coffee a bit 😂😂.

I like the look of a beard but in reality they are jaggy and itchy on my face, so when my dp let's his get too long I have to nag and nag him to shave. He doesn't even like it long he just goes weeks withought shaving, (laziness) 😂

cricketmum84 · 09/07/2018 08:11

@divadee ok I'm gonna try that!! I'll scream every time he comes near me until he grows it back! Genius Smile

putonyourdancingshoes · 09/07/2018 08:28

Yabu, I hate beards. So rough and spiky!

cricketmum84 · 09/07/2018 08:31

@putonyourdancingshoes I think there's an optimum beard length, like 0.5-1 inch is scratchy, 1-3 inch becomes soft and Strokable, 4 inch + is cornflake storage a'la The Twits.

I like the soft and strokable stage!
