To be horrified by the dating world...

Ive just come out of a 9 year marriage. On Friday at a club my friend asked a guy for a pic of his dick to prove his size and he said ‘what would you like, a still or a video?’ I saw the video. When I questioned it everyone was like ‘it’s 2018, that’s dating now.’
I was fucking horrified. I don’t want to see someones cock before I even know them. What happened to mystery & romance?!

You need new friends.

MaverickSnoopy · 08/07/2018 16:58

You do need new friends! BUT that is fucking depressing that there are people out there putting up with this shit.

longwayoff · 08/07/2018 16:58

Like monkeys in a zoo..get better friends

HollowTalk · 08/07/2018 16:59

Eh? It's your friend who's the problem!

Thefourmuskateers · 08/07/2018 16:59

Sorry I wrote my friend by accident, she’s my friend’s friend and it was the first time we met. Even the guy said to me ‘what time are you from?’ because he viewed it as the norm too Confused

Nothing wrong with that unless it was unsolicited, he seemed happy to show your friend and your friend asked.

I get you though ... I like sex to have a little bit of old fashioned romance and mystery sometimes Grin I'm happily married but if I was dating I think I'd say no to dick pics.

I wouldn't drop your friend over this. It seems petty and silly if I'm honest, unless she's pressuring you to partake in similar behaviour.

rosesandflowers1 · 08/07/2018 17:07

Oh she's a friend's friend? So I don't suppose you're close enough to "drop" her - but I wouldn't try and avoid her just over this! Lots of people do have different attitudes to this sort of thing now, and like I said nothing wrong unless it's mutual.

Teateaandmoretea · 08/07/2018 17:07

A single friend of mine recently got sent a dick picture by some bloke she had just met (and brushed off). She was Shock what a weirdo perv. So yanbu op, and I doubt it's really going to catch on fully.

rosesandflowers1 · 08/07/2018 17:07

  • if it's mutual.

Dearie me Blush That sounded awful!

Thefourmuskateers · 08/07/2018 17:39

I’m only 29 but they made me feel ancient 😂

Thefourmuskateers · 08/07/2018 17:40

She is married too and uninterested in him which was even stranger 🤦🏻‍♀️

PencilTroll · 08/07/2018 17:48

Classy bird. I don't give a flying fuck what year it is, am happily married but if I was dating again no way would I be standing for this kind of nonsense and I suspect it's rare for any kind of meaningful relationship to develop from this.
Date on your own terms and stay classy, keep your head held high. Plenty of time for things to develop and exchange nudey pix in due course, should you wish, or not!

Thefourmuskateers · 08/07/2018 17:49

Exactly PencilTroll. I really hope it’s not the norm like they say or I’m screwed.

Bramble71 · 08/07/2018 17:52

She has no class, at all.

Hopefully, not every man behaves like that, nor every woman!

NotAsGreenAsCabbageLooking · 08/07/2018 17:52

I think it is a lot more common unfortunately... but there are still normal men out there.

I haven’t had to resort to online or apps, and I didn’t need to send or receive photos thankfully!

ArtyKitty · 08/07/2018 17:57

I ventured into the world of old very briefly before I met my boyfriend. But talking to friends who have done it for longer, it seems I'm very lucky to avoided dick picks so far... No idea why the guys that do it think it's appealing but I think, from what I've gathered in my city at least, a fairly commonplace practice...

Missillusioned · 08/07/2018 17:58

It is very common in dating. Unsolicited cock shots are common. The men with more manners ask before they send cock shots. But the vast majority of men will send them. Not all of course, but the sheer numbers of men that do this is shocking.

SilverySurfer · 08/07/2018 17:58

Ugh this makes me feel older than Methuselah and so happy I no longer date.

As if it wasn't bad enough that FofF asked, I'm beyond shocked that he happened to have a photograph let alone a video. Is it the done thing these days? Do the women carry a selection of boob and vulvula shots/videos?

The world has gone mad.

NewtScamandersNaughtyNiffler · 08/07/2018 18:02

Dick pics are one of the reasons I agreed to meet my now DP after we 'met' OLD.
Not only did he NOT send me a dick pic, but he said he wouldn't even if I asked for one.

Sexykitten2005 · 08/07/2018 18:03

I’ve never received one but my friends are all experts now at photoshopping and sending them back with little outfits on or different hairstyles etc. Those guys tend to block them quickly after that

Roomba · 08/07/2018 18:07

I know what you mean, OP. I got out of a 17 year relationship a couple of years back and I am mystified and horrified by the modern dating world!

I'm staying single unless someone very compelling changes my mind. And will never live with anyone ever again. And I certainly don't want a photo of anyone's dick, not like they are attractive to look at so why the hell would I wish to see a strangers (or worse, someone I've known a long time who decides to make their move now I'm free... Urgh)?

SilverySurfer · 08/07/2018 18:08

He sounds a good'un NewtScamandersNaughtyNiffler.

Love that idea Sexykitten If I was ever unfortunate enough to receive one I would probably say something like 'Oh dear, how unfortunate' or 'have you seen the doctor about that?' and then block them. Should cool their ardour for a while Grin

longwayoff · 08/07/2018 18:10

But surely women reply to these -unsolicited- saddos with appropriately withering comments? Can u imagine taking it further? How did u two meet? Ooh I fell for the picture of his cock that he sent before we met, it was really romantic.

Eighttimeseight · 08/07/2018 18:13

The modern version of 'flashing'...

Thefourmuskateers · 08/07/2018 18:15

Is it the done thing these days? Do the women carry a selection of boob and vulvula shots/videos?

I said to the guy 'why would you have that on your phone- I don't go around sending pictures of mine to people?' and he said 'I bet no one has ever asked you.'

This was a charmer that was trying to take me home later on. Hmm
