To be too nervous to watch....

...the match?! It's on the tv but so far I've seen about 60 seconds of play (missed both goals) because I can't stand the tension. I keep having to leave the room and do something so as not to bite my nails down to bleeding every time Sweden get near the ball. So far I've changed the bed, folded one load of drying, put another load in the drier and another in the machine, cleaned out the cat litter boxes, made breakfast and done the breakfast washing up (in USA it's early here) and we've still got 12 minutes to go! I can't stand it. Aargh come on England. How is everyone who's too scared to watch coping?

I am doing the crossword .
Not remotely interested.
My dh is watching avidly.

whiteroseredrose · 07/07/2018 16:36

Me too!

whiteroseredrose · 07/07/2018 16:37

Can't bear to watch, not doing a crossword!

54321go · 07/07/2018 16:37

It's some blokes kicking a ball about, get over it!

Lalalala3 · 07/07/2018 16:38

We have loads of cafes and pubs on our roads showing the match so everytime we hear a load cheer or a load of noise we switch over just to see what happened. Not watching the whole thing, sod that

ItscominghomeItscominghome · 07/07/2018 16:39

its coming home.......

ElementalHalfLife · 07/07/2018 16:39

Yeah my DH (American so no skin in the game) is watching too and keeps making loud 'ooh fuuck' noises when nothing happens just to wind me up even further and get me running into the room going 'what? What happened? Did Sweden score?'. Bastard.

You’re missing out! They’re doing well. Pickford in particular has been an absolute gem.

HazelBite · 07/07/2018 16:39

My blood pressure is suffering!

TSSDNCOP · 07/07/2018 16:40

I’m hiding in the garden.

I am known to jinx any game of anything the minute I sit down to watch.

TSSDNCOP · 07/07/2018 16:41

My sister (who owns a pub so is looking at a new Mulberry) has banned me from watching Hmm

banivani · 07/07/2018 16:42

I’m a Swede. Why are you worried, you’re obv going to win. That was clear after 1-0. 🙄 our side isn’t playing that well at all.

Singlenotsingle · 07/07/2018 16:44

I can't watch it either. DS has got a few mates in front of the TV, loud cheering noises every now and then! Of course if England win, I'll be sorry I didn't watch it.

(DH has been watching F1 in the other lounge).

lifechangesforever · 07/07/2018 16:44

I'm secretly hoping it sends me into labour ha! But really, I'm not that interested and I'm actually trying to finish my final uni assignment so it's in before baby makes an appearance!

TSSDNCOP · 07/07/2018 16:46

bani did you not watch the Colombia game? England can usually lose to themselves playing alone at 3am.

It’s a shame it’s Sweden we are likely to dispatch. Such a lovely country full of lovely people. It’s horris when it’s froends.

Lisabel · 07/07/2018 16:46

Sweden aren't playing too badly Banivani- don't jinx it for England! haha!

Lisabel · 07/07/2018 16:47

PS. I hate football but surrounded by men so watching it anyway!

TSSDNCOP · 07/07/2018 16:47

Horrid when it’s friends ffs

FuzzyCustard · 07/07/2018 16:49

I'm no footie fan but a bit interested when England are in the World Cup (and keeping DH company). But I have been out in the kitchen making low-fat Cornish Pasties!

ItscominghomeItscominghome · 07/07/2018 16:49

It’s horris when it’s froends.

Keep on the beer.

4 minutes to go.....

banivani · 07/07/2018 16:50

Sure the swedes aren’t running after the ball enough are they. Well congratulations I suppose haha it’s coming home and all that

Lizzie48 · 07/07/2018 16:50

I'm watching the tennis, but my DH has the football on the TV downstairs. And the tennis commentators keep me up to date anyway.

I am a bit nervous, I must admit. Grin

ElementalHalfLife · 07/07/2018 16:51

bani what others said, if England can find a way to fuck it up with 30 seconds to go they will! I won't relax until that final whistle goes with England still in front!

OP posts:
inisfree · 07/07/2018 16:51

Not from England but watching the game. I'm fairly certain you can all stop worrying, England look like they will win

inisfree · 07/07/2018 16:52

...and they just have. Well done England.
