To think prosecco is over rated?

Prosecco is a pretty bland fizzy drink. Fine if you like it, but why has it become the "in" thing? Cava is way better. Much more taste in general.

Its vile. Don't get the hype or the whole gin craze thats going on.

altiara · 02/07/2018 23:43

No I like it. I hate gin though and that is the in thing now. Leave prosecco alone.

InsomniacAnonymous · 02/07/2018 23:44

I've never even tried prosecco. I only like red wine. Is prosecco maybe for people who don't really like the taste of wine but want to have some alcohol anyway?

SemperIdem · 02/07/2018 23:45

Cava is absolutely disgusting, I’d rather not drink at all than drink that.

Prosecco gives me dreadful headaches, even if I drink just the one (normal sized) glass.

I get on best with rosè champagne.

SemperIdem · 02/07/2018 23:45

I don’t tend to drink fizzy wine though. I’m a red wine fan.

littlemissdynamite · 02/07/2018 23:46

Cava AND prosecco are both vile and overrated.

Basically fizzy piss. Both of them.

TheRoadLessRocky · 02/07/2018 23:49

I agree, cava has more taste. I've drank it for years. Occasionally pick up a prosecco on offer but I'd rather have supermarket own brand brut cava than any prosecco I've tried.

BackforGood · 02/07/2018 23:50

Agree with you about prosecco. Have to disagree about cava though

Basically, wine should just not fizz.

happymummy12345 · 02/07/2018 23:54

Naturally proper champagne is best. But prosecco is great too. A nice cava is also great.

HildaZelda · 02/07/2018 23:56

I find that a lot of prosecco can be really sugary. The nicest one I've found is Aldi's own BUT the one with the silver label NOT the one with the yellow label, as the yellow label one is basically just a bottle of sugar water.

legolimb · 02/07/2018 23:57

I agree.

Champagne, cava or a nice Cremant de Bourgogne for me please.

PlantsArePeopleToo · 02/07/2018 23:57

YABVU.

In fact reading this post has made me start craving a nice glass of prosseco so YAB super U.

KneesupGaston · 03/07/2018 00:00

I find cava very similar in taste to champagne, that heavy musky sort of taste, I don't like it myself but I can see why people do. It has more depth of flavour than prosecco which is light and sweet. I do like a prosecco, I find it very refreshing and easy to drink. We all have different tastes of course.

Itchytights · 03/07/2018 00:02

Prosecco is disgusting

DH got given a really nice bottle as a present a few years back.

We both took one sip of it and tipped the entire bottle down the sink.

Now gin on the other hand...WinkGrin

altiara · 03/07/2018 00:05

@insomniacanonymous
Can’t speak for everyone, but I like red, white and rose wine and still there is a place for fizz. I like to start with fizzy wine (the bubbles make me relaxed and happy!) with a few of those sweet chilli crackers and then see which wine bottle jumps out and opens itself.

mozzybites · 03/07/2018 00:36

I am with you OP I much prefer cava to prosecco, champagne is my favourite however.

PurpleTigerLove · 03/07/2018 00:39

It’s disgusting . Smells like vomit !

legolimb · 03/07/2018 00:40

Prosecco is made differently to the other types of fizz. It's fermented once in the bottle and in steel vats. Although some of the better prosecco are double fermented in the bottle in the same way as champagne, cava and the French Cremant.

legolimb · 03/07/2018 00:43

prosecco vs champagne

Time40 · 03/07/2018 00:49

Prosecco is Blue Nun for the 21st century.

hidinginthetrampoline · 03/07/2018 00:53

I love prosecco and to be honest, I can't taste anything after the first glass so it goes down very well in my house.

The main problem is I end up pissed as a fart on the stuff.

Uncreative · 03/07/2018 00:56

YANBU

Stinkbomb · 03/07/2018 01:22

Gin has always been the only spirit I'd drink, well before this gin-fever hit.
Also, had prosecco at my engagement party 10 yrs ago, well before others had heard of it, because I find it softer than cava.
I think I'm just a trendsetter!

VenkmanStoleMyToast · 03/07/2018 01:32

Prosecco, Cava, Champagne, they all make your breath smell like shit🤢

Red wine makes you look like you've eaten shit.

I don't drink much, maybe a 2-3 times a year and I nearly always stick with gin.
Lovely, fragrant and refreshing.
