To think prosecco is over rated?

Prosecco is a pretty bland fizzy drink. Fine if you like it, but why has it become the "in" thing? Cava is way better. Much more taste in general.

i love a G and T with a slice, but prosecco leaves me cold. Proper champagne is lovely though, but only had that once or twice!

I once used Prosecco as a mixer for Gin because I didn't have any tonic. this was a VERY BAD IDEA.

TheFaerieQueene · 04/07/2018 10:21

There is good and bad prosecco as with all wine. As a general rule look for bottles with DOCG on the label rather than DOC.

Ethylred · 04/07/2018 10:22

It's a boring drink for boring people.

MargoLovebutter · 04/07/2018 10:24

Decent prosecco is lovely! The stuff you buy for £5 at the supermarket less so. Cremant is one of my sparkling faves as well.

Some champagnes aren't nice either, same as some bottles of wine aren't. It seems harsh to write off all prosecco because some of it isn't nice - in my humble opinion as a fizz connoisseur!

Prosecco, cava and champagne are all vile.

It doesn't matter where they are from or how much they cost, they all taste of hangover.

I heard that Cava is making a comeback.

Vodka is where it's at...forget fizz or gin. Don't be a sheep 🐑

Allthewaves · 04/07/2018 10:53

It's got to be decent prosecco. I'd happily settle for user though (classy Grin)

Cider

Priogrigio from Asda is fab. A cross between Pinot Grigio and Prosecco. £5 a bottle.....

laurG · 04/07/2018 11:40

Totally agree. Prosecco is chalky. Tesco do a bottle of champagne for £10 that is so much better. The mark up on prosseco is reciculous. My friend who works in restaurants says it costs them 11p per glass!
