To make a thread for those who love this heat

Just tired of all the moaning of how hot and unbearable it is. I am sure for those suffering the heat get tired of people like me moaning about the cold. I am not actually complaining about you. I am the worst in winter!

I just feel so deflated that anybody who I have spoken to hates this weather.
DP doesn't cope in heat at all, he wears shorts all winter.
DDs get sunstroke really easy or just get grumpy and miserable. I am the enemy at home at the moment as all I want to do is enjoy the heat, all they want to do is moan!

So, just wondering if there are any Mumsnetters who are happy with the heat?

Nope it’s awful

Chickencellar · 28/06/2018 19:19

Yep loving the warmth , sat in the garden. It's like the Med , brilliant.

Gilead · 28/06/2018 19:20

Get loads done this weather. Love it!

Iputthescrewinthetuna · 28/06/2018 19:22

@SchrodingersCaterpillar I am really sorry you are suffering. I understand, first sign of Autumn I am a quivering wreck.

@Chickencellar Yay, you are obviously as mad as me!
However, I don't get to enjoy the heat as all my family need to be indoors! I sneak out for a quick cigarette or while the younger 2 are napping!
Children are off to bed in a minute- I cannot wait to get out there!

I love this weather too.
My only slight issue is having to get stuff like cleaning/ironing done when it's like this but the plus side I suppose is I must lose about a pound the amount I sweat!!
I love this time of night though I'm sat in the garden in a sundress drinking wine and eating frazzles (classy)Grin

Doobigetta · 28/06/2018 19:24

I love it too! It's like being on holiday for free, what's not to like? Some people just like whining. It'll be the same ones saying, oh, that's our summer gone then the second they feel one drop of rain.

Bigpizzalover · 28/06/2018 19:25

I absolutely adore this weather - always said I’m meant to live abroad. Luckily my DCs cope quite well in this heat, they have a few morngy moments so I usually let them have a nap which they don’t normally have.

Iputthescrewinthetuna · 28/06/2018 19:25

@Gilead do you feel like you come alive in the summer!

@holycityzoo noooo, housework is done at 6am here so I get to enjoy what I can.

I have a Pimms ready, a book. DP over the pub watching football. Peace and heat👌

I love it too.

I'm hot, but I'm enjoying the garden. Just need air conditioning in my home to make it perfect.

KittyVonCatsworth · 28/06/2018 19:26

Loving it! More active, eating more salad and drinking loads of water. Looking tanned and feeling healthy ❤️

GrannyGrissle · 28/06/2018 19:26

DD(4) is out all day in our garden, butt naked, covered in sand, in and out the paddling pool, LOL Doll/Sylvanian/Playmobil village set up on the patio and i've got heaps of gardening done as she is so absorbed in playing. Blissful. Don't feel hungry so not obsessing over food, having lovely chats with my fabulous neighbours and feel all happy and relaxed. Summertime life is gooooood Grin

SinglePringle · 28/06/2018 19:27

I love love love it. I get up at 5am, work out and it’s just glorious in this weather. I love summer clothes, food, the sunshine - all of it!

Naysayers be gone to your own threads!

GrumpyBagFace · 28/06/2018 19:29

Love it.. I actually like getting out of bed. I love being able to feel my hands and feet. I love having all of the windows open. I love that the children spend all day outside digging and splashing. I love being on top of the washing. I love sitting outside at 9pm.

It's brilliant.

somedayillbesaturdaynite · 28/06/2018 19:29

Oh OP I adore it too! Last night I felt like I was sat on a hotel balcony in Spain instead of in my new back garden. I chose the hottest week to move home but I don't care because everything feels better...my skin, hair and depression level has all improved thanks to that yellow ball in the sky

Giggorata · 28/06/2018 19:30

Me! I love it. Wake up earlier and don't need to huddle in warm bed, happy to leap (well, climb) out and enter the bathroom fearlessly for a prolonged shower instead of in and out ASAP; swifts, leisurely wander around nude or partially dressed..eat less, exercise more, feel like doing more after work, less expense re fuel, beautiful flowers and greenery, birds singing, swifts, washing dries quickly on the line, warm nights full of scented blooms and fairy lights, Pimms (or Lidl version, anyway) wafting about in lightweight clothing, lightweight sandals, mad hats; did I say swifts?

mamaduckbone · 28/06/2018 19:31

I LOVE it. I spend about 8 months of the year cold and miserable so this is bliss. I’m happier, I look better, I’m nicer to everyone - it’s heaven. (No one in my family understands me - 3 sweaty, tetchy males in my house who wear shorts all winter)

thatwouldbeanecumenicalmatter · 28/06/2018 19:37

Me too! I hate being cold plus it’s so much quicker and easier to leave the house with the dc - no wrestling them into 7 layers of clothing and snow boots. Ditto when they come back in and no wet muddy carpets.

Gilead · 28/06/2018 19:37

Iput, yes, I function far more efficiently in summer, I'm happier, more organised and tend to be calmer. I'm up earlier and in bed later and still manage most of the time. I think I get twice as much done the second it's over about 23 degrees!

BackforGood · 28/06/2018 19:38

I love it.
I love that I can predict it is going to be nice tomorrow, or the next day, etc and actually hang my washing out / arrange to meet friends for a picnic / invite people to a BBQ / go out in the morning without a coat, or even a cardigan / wear nothing on my legs or feet.
Just wish it were like this more often.

RJnomore1 · 28/06/2018 19:40

Love it. It was unbearably stuffy in my house though but now I've found my table fan.

Iputthescrewinthetuna · 28/06/2018 19:42

Thing about summer I love is the heat. Then after a week or so you get a huge thunderstorm! Im so happy! 😀

I function well in the summer. But as my kids don't, I spend most my time dealing with tantrums or heat stroke.
I am now out in my garden, younger kids asleep, eldest with DP watching football. Mummy is going to get engrossed in a bit of Martina Cole and Pimms!

Happy summer everyone! Lets hope it lasts for the full summer period! Smile

Bluelady · 28/06/2018 19:45

Bloody love it. It's like being on holiday. Life is so effortless when you need just light clothes and don't have to worry about being cols and wet. This is dry heat with a light breeze, no humidity and not oppressive. In short it's perfect.

isseywithcats · 28/06/2018 19:46

Two edged sword for me i love the sun, but am a redhead, so i have to do my sun worshipping in little chunks, and sit in the shady bit of the parasol outside in the garden, work in a kitchen so sweat city, but love being able to walk home in shorts and sandals, love being able to go to nice places on our motorbike , hate the cold, wet and snow in winter

GrumpyBagFace · 28/06/2018 19:49

I'm a redhead too. I love that this weather forces me to wear factor 50 everyday. My skin is amazing!

I can't think of a single negative.

vampirethriller · 28/06/2018 19:49

I love it. Winter is dark, wet and completely vile. I love the sun and how the air smells in the summer evenings, whether I'm in a city or the countryside. I love city nights in summer. Early mornings when it's clean and bright. It's glorious. I'm sweatier than usual because I'm pregnant and chunky but it's still bloody lovely and I wish it was always like thisGrin
