When you let the toast get a bit cold before you put butter on so it doesn't melt.

Blurgh yep YABU hot toast and melted butter all the way 😋

loveablether · 28/06/2018 12:28

Yes! When it goes a bit chewy, and it's cut like triangles like you get at B&B's!

Babbaganoush · 28/06/2018 12:30

Totally with you...I adore it this way!

frasier · 28/06/2018 12:31

Yep, I call it “hotel toast”!

I was brought up travelling a lot and had a lot of hotel toast. It reminds me of my childhood. DH makes mine when he gets up and leaves it out for me 😀

Damnpeskykids · 28/06/2018 12:33

Ohhh this reminds me of my mum she used to love her toast "buttered, but only when it's cold!"

MVLipwig · 28/06/2018 12:34

Love it but only on a fry up! Something about cold very buttery toast dipped in tinned tomatoes

IHeartKingThistle · 28/06/2018 12:36

This is how I have my toast. DH isn't allowed to make my toast. I can't bear it when the butter sinks in. Crunchy toast, cold butter.

I don't eat carbs during the day. I'm going to be thinking about toast all afternoon now!

KinkyAfro · 28/06/2018 12:37

My people! I leave to go cold and then butter, has to be really well done too...almost but not quite black

halfwitpicker · 28/06/2018 12:38

OMG yes.

Especially thickly spread with marg, topped with a plastic cheese slice. Or marmalade when in a B and B in the Lakes.

Mrsharrison · 28/06/2018 12:38

I love it.

cjferg · 28/06/2018 12:39

Has to be with brown bread too.

Don't get me wrong I like white bread lightly toasted with melted butter as much as the next person but brown old toast well done is the shit.

LollyLarkin · 28/06/2018 12:39

Cold toast is the best! I prop my two slices up against each other like a “T” shape so that they cool, luckily my DH prefers hot toast (weirdo) so I do mine first then his.

I hate staying round at people’s houses and they give me the fresh, hot toast thinking that they’re being nice. No, give yourself the hot and do mine first so it’s nice and cold!

halfwitpicker · 28/06/2018 12:39

FWIW those toast racks are actually supposed to help toast go cold, aren't they?

IllHaveALargeGlassOfRed · 28/06/2018 12:40

I don't mind old toast but the butters got to have been spread when the toast was hot and left to melt. Hospital toast I call it!

halfwitpicker · 28/06/2018 12:41

Totally right, lolly

cjferg · 28/06/2018 12:41

halfwit, I thought they were more to stop it going soggy

OP posts:
EatMyGoal · 28/06/2018 12:41

We bought a toast rack to make ‘b and b’ toast exactly like this 😄

IllHaveALargeGlassOfRed · 28/06/2018 12:42

And it has to be white bread and still peely wally! Delish!

cjferg · 28/06/2018 12:42

Lolly, my husband doesn't like toast he likes hot bread. Literally have to turn the toaster as low as it will go.

OP posts:
happysunr1se · 28/06/2018 12:42

How about this?

toast that's been left to go cold and crunchy, spread with bitter marmalade with lots of peel bits, then a generous layer of clotted cream.

even nicer than a cream tea!

Drivemecrazy1974 · 28/06/2018 12:45

My husband thinks I'm weird because I like my toast like this. What's really nice is cold toast, butter, and a smearing of brown sauce or salad cream! I can't think why he thinks I'm weird!
However, I do also enjoy hot toast too, so maybe I'm just a little bit odd and not completely!!

morningtoncrescent62 · 28/06/2018 12:50

YA soooooo NBU. Toast with butter melting is the devil's food. It really turns my stomach. I have to let my toast cool down completely so that there's no melt whatsoever, and then it's wonderful. But I would never put anything additional on top of the nice cool butter.

Itis6oclocksomewhere · 28/06/2018 12:51

My husband thinks that I'm so odd for having my toast like this, but I love it.
Might do myself a couple of slices now Smile

PiggeryPorcombe · 28/06/2018 12:52

Toast out of toaster and into the freezer for a few mins. Perfect.

SolemnlySwear2010 · 28/06/2018 12:56

I have started having my toast this way - so much better than warm/melty butter
