Isofix high back booster with harness

BWrose · 23/06/2018 15:59

I'm looking for a high back booster seat that is isofix compatible and one which has a harness for strapping the chid into. Any recommendations.

I would prefer to go into a physical shop and get a car seat fitted. Could I chance my arm and buy one online if I was to find seat I'm looking for.

High back booster is usually to be used with the car's seatbelt. If you are looking at a 5 point harness that would be the stage of seat below (ie up to about 4).

Thehop · 23/06/2018 18:37

Ask on the car seat safety fb group they’re brilliant

chocolatepudandchocolatesauce · 23/06/2018 18:43

Web have a kiddicare one with all those features. Let me find it

chocolatepudandchocolatesauce · 23/06/2018 18:45

kiddiecare isofix high back booster

woodpigeons · 23/06/2018 18:48

I needed one of these and had to buy it from the US where they seem to be quite common.
Mine was from Sunshine kids but there were other makes. It’s quite a long time ago so can’t even remember the model name.

happinessiseggshaped · 23/06/2018 18:53

Do you want a 123 seat with isofix or do you want a HBB with a harness over 18kg and isofix?

happinessiseggshaped · 23/06/2018 18:55

And do you have a top tether point in your car?

trilbydoll · 23/06/2018 19:16

We've just bought a Joie one today that has a harness to 25kg or seat belt from 15kg, you can choose.

hennaoj · 23/06/2018 21:08

Joie Bold is isofix and belt fitted. It has a harness that goes to 25kg but is a proper 2nd stage seat that converts to a high back booster. You won't find one that is purely isofix fitted that goes over 18kg.

Thanks for the replies. I've been researching car seats online all weekend and my head is melted.

Anyways Yes, I'm looking for a group 2/3 car seat with isofix and a 5 point harness. I investigated the car and I can't find tether/anchor points unless if they are located on the floor in the boot. It's an 04 Toyota Corolla hatchback with 5 doors if anyone is familiar with that car.

I was hoping a seat could be secured with isofix and a space located in the back of the car seat for looping the cars seat belt into.

I will check out the joie bold online

The Joie bold seems to be what I'm looking for.

I read this online about the joie bold:

9 position ISOSAFE connectors, top tether and vehicle belt pair together for a safer, stronger installation

Does mean - it's fitted using isofix? Could I use isofix and the vehicles seat belt for securing in and leave out the top tether?

Your car doesn’t have isofix anchor points but you want an isofix seat?

Have you researched why 5 point harnesses aren’t good?

TittyGolightly · 24/06/2018 10:02

You don’t use a seatbelt to attach an isofix seat.

HellenaHandbasket · 24/06/2018 10:05

Why do you want isofix specifically? We have a high backed booster with it, it is a britax romer from memory. But it isn't on a harness, in the main because I seem to remember that harnesses aren't as healthy over a certain weight.

If you wanted to move away from isofix the britax two way elite is fab, rear faces to 25kg using tether straps to the front seat bases or forward faces on a harness to 25kg too. My son is 6 and still not 25kg, think my daughter was about 7 when she hit that weight.

Chocolate1984 · 24/06/2018 10:05

Your car probably won't have top
Tether as it's too old. I'm not sure if you can have them added? The shop won't fit a seat with top tether if you don't have it.

BWrose · 24/06/2018 10:07

Just after checking the joie website and looking at the bold seat and the cars it's compatible with and the Toyota Corolla isn't listed.

Tittygolightly

The car does have isofix brackets but it doesn't have tether or anchor points in the back or top or boot.

I can phone the car dealership tomorrow morning to see If I can get a top tether fitted.

Isofix alone is only compatible to 18kg - the seats that go above that weight limit will be secured by a seatbelt as well. Our hbb is attached to the isofix (but mainly to keep the seat in place with no child!) and the child is secured with the seatbelt.

The 5 point harness is only good to 18kg also - unless you buy one of the very few new seats which specify 25kg - on the group 1/2/3 seats, at 18 kg the harness will be tucked away and you will use a seat belt to restrain the child.

user1471546359 · 24/06/2018 10:14

Have you looked at the Britax advansafix III? It has isofix and a harness until 18kg (I think), we have it and seems fine! On sale in mothercare at the moment I think. It doesn’t have a top tether

BWrose · 24/06/2018 10:23

The Britax advanasfix III was the car seat I was originally eyeing up. The older version had a harness up to 25 kg but they changed to 18kg. I'll have to stop being fussy and go for a car seat with harness up to 18kg and then converts to a booster by hiding away the straps.

From the online shops I've been looking at and on that seat alone, it says it has a top tether. It would be great if I could secure the car seat with isofix and seat belt and leave out the top tether.

Have you looked at tbe two way elite?

BWrose · 24/06/2018 10:26

Just after emailing the Toyota car dealership to see if a top tether can be fitted.

OP posts:
BWrose · 24/06/2018 10:27

I will browse online and have a look at that one now.
