Isofix high back booster with harness

BWrose · 23/06/2018 15:59

I'm looking for a high back booster seat that is isofix compatible and one which has a harness for strapping the chid into. Any recommendations.

I would prefer to go into a physical shop and get a car seat fitted. Could I chance my arm and buy one online if I was to find seat I'm looking for.

It doesn't isofix but harnesses up to 25kg

TittyGolightly · 24/06/2018 10:36

I’m still confused as to how you’re going to fix a seat in using isofix when your car has no isofix points?

BWrose · 24/06/2018 11:39

Can you not read tittygolightly?

There is isofix brackets in the back seats or under the seats where they are in most cars. The isofix labels are sewn on the back seats too. The isofix is there in the car.

There is no tethering or anchoring bolts in the car for top tethering.

I can indeed read. I read this. Which suggests that you can’t find any isofix anchor points. Hmm

Anyways Yes, I'm looking for a group 2/3 car seat with isofix and a 5 point harness. I investigated the car and I can't find tether/anchor points unless if they are located on the floor in the boot. It's an 04 Toyota Corolla hatchback with 5 doors if anyone is familiar with that car.

InNeedOfALieInNow · 24/06/2018 11:56

Op is talking about anchor points for tethers. These are different to isofix fixing points

Op - if you need ground tethers you can attach to the front seat rails

HellenaHandbasket · 24/06/2018 13:54

Agreed, use the front seat rails/base.

BWrose · 25/06/2018 11:48

I got a response back from Britax saying the Britax advanasfix III must be used with isofix and the top tether at all times.

Groud tethers probably wouldn't be all that very suitable for placing a seat forward facing and a seat that needs top tether.

I've looked at so many seats online and it seems as if the isofix seats needs a top tether.

I think at this stage I might need to drop the idea of using isofix and focus on getting a seat that would be group 2/3 that will have a 5 point harness to a certain weight and something that will be installed using seat belt.

I'm disappointed because some seats using the seat belt can wiggle around.

What about an extended rear facing seat?

KatoPotato · 25/06/2018 13:00

High backed boosters are exactly that- a belted booster?

We have a brittax isofix HBB for our 8 yo (we went into it at around age 5)

What age are you needing this for?

BWrose · 25/06/2018 13:06

The high back booster won't be suitable at all. I'm buying for a 3.5 year old.

I will need a group 2/3 seat. A seat with a 5 point harness and then after that something that can be converted to a high back booster.

I rang the car dealership earlier but I had no luck. The lad I was talking to never heard of the problem/issue before. He was never requested for installing anchoring brackets.

He did say there would be kits available but not from them for installing an anchoring bracket. I've been googling bracket kits but nothing has come up yet for me.

Does anyone here have any experience with fitting anchoring brackets?

It's unfortuante you've hit such an awkward gap in seats age/size wise!

What do you have at the moment?

BWrose · 25/06/2018 13:26

I'm not buying for myself. I have a brother living abroad and he's coming home with his family and buying for my niece. I want to have the car ready for when they land.

I think you'd be best to join the 'car seat advice uk' Facebook group which is run by experts. Have a read of the posts and the files

I would go for the two way elite. Very easy to fit well, tethered in reverse mode and harnessed.

NurseP · 25/06/2018 20:20

I have a britax 2 way elite. Harness to 25 kg,tether to front seat. Very user friendly.

TheExhausted · 25/06/2018 20:27

Could you look at a rear facing to 25kg seat? They don't use isofix but are belted in and don't need top tethers.

stargirl1701 · 25/06/2018 20:27

Klippan Triofix Recline. Group 1/2/3. No tether or anchor. Standard adjustable leg.

ERF on ISOFIX with harness to 18kg. Spacer available to extend legroom.

FF on ISOFIX with seatbelt to 25kg.

FF (remove ISOFIX base) with seatbelt to 36kg.

stargirl1701 · 25/06/2018 20:31

Looks like the Triofix Recline has been replaced by the Comfort model in 2017. It looks virtually the same though.

Millybingbong · 25/06/2018 20:40

The crucial fact is how much the child weighs

CrohnicallyEarly · 25/06/2018 21:12

We have one, I can't remember what it's called though, it's in my mums car and I will look tomorrow.

It has isofix clips at the base of the seat, then the vehicle belt threads through the seat kind of like on a non-isofix stage 1 seat. The harness can be used to 18kg, then it removes and you unthread the vehicle belt and use that to strap the child instead. The seat remains isofixed in place to stop it sliding around, even if the seat isn't belted, or if the child is wriggling.

BWrose · 25/06/2018 22:01

Thank you all so much for the replies. The child is 15kg.

I researched car seats all weekend. I emailed incarsafety who were fantastic and they came back with two recommendations for me one of them being the Britax evolva SL sict. The isofix clip are soft latch and clips into the isofix brackets in the car. The cars seat belt is threaded through the back. It has a 5 point harness to 18kg.

All in all I'm impressed and happy with what I see and the reviews I read online about the seat. I didn't order it yet but I think I will mid week unless if I get another recommendation.

Does anyone of this seat? How is the harness for a tall child?

I read about the Britax advanasfix and some people having trouble with the harness closing with a tall child.

Would the harness in the evola be similar to the advanasfix? This is probably the only thing I'm stalling on now.

I recently bought a Joie high back booster with harness that goes up to 25kg and used Isofix and top tether (mine are at the back of the seat). I got it fitted in store and the woman doing it also used the seat belt.

It’s a great seat. Very roomy for my big 4 year old.

This is it:

Anoisagusaris · 25/06/2018 22:12

uses not used

Anoisagusaris · 25/06/2018 22:13

And it converts into a regular high back booster from 25kg upwards.

Sorry for all the posts!
