Aibu to ask for your vacuum recommendations?

Just that really. My trusty 10 year old Dyson has just blown up. Smells of burning. So I think it's dead .
Another Dyson or something different? We have fluffy cats.... the downstairs is mostly tile/floorboards carpets upstairs.

I 'LOVE* my Dyson but I know that opinion is divided .....

I was so dubious when a friend suggested it, but I love it. I have always hated hoovering with a passion - and now I enjoy it!!!
Easily manoeuvrable, so light, really good suction....
I've had VAX and Dyson in the past and was disappointed.

Another vote for the shark lift away, I love mine and my son loves the headlights on the base

Don't get the dyson with a ball, mine is so heavy and awkward. Hate it. My mum loves her cordless dyson for the stairs and quick tidy.

I have various pets & it picks up everything- even my DD’s love to use it as they are fascinated by the way it pulls itself along on carpet.. their bedrooms have never been to clean 🎉😂

Yep, shark lift away duo clean. I bought one last month and it's the best vacuum cleaner I've ever had, much prefer it to our old Dyson and the miele. My cat is absolutely petrified of it though, I think it's the 'headlights'.

Interesting - never heard of the Shark before. Shark lovers - please can you let me know which model you have?

The newest Dyson (not sure on the make) it's a handheld with the power of a plug in, its amaaaaaaaaazing

I hated my dyson with a passion. So heavy and clunky and hard to carry round.
We've just bought a Meile hoover especially for pets - it's bloody marvellous. My black lab is shedding her winter coat and leaving a sheen of black fur all over my carpets, this sucks it all up no problem.

I’m another Shark lover. Well DH is because he does the hoovering. Dysons can’t compete. We were gobsmacked at the amount of crap it got out of the carpet straight after being hoovered with the Dyson.

Another one here for shark lift away. I am really heavy on vacuums, had loads, but bought this 3 years ago, still good as new, never loses suction and I love looking like a ghost booster when lifted away for doing the stairs.
(DH quite enjoys this aspect too!!)

We used to have a dyson, but got a shark lift away when it broke (partly because of dyson' brexit stance ). We love it - so easy to do stairs etc, with none of the issues of a cordless one (batteries running out etc). It's great - and a which Best Buy too.

Another shark lift away vote here. Amazing for cat hair, and light and easy to use. I wouldn't go back to Dyson now.

Miele - recommendation from Mumsnet. We got the pet one and Dh got the Car assessory kit. 😀

I have a shark lift away which I prefer to my Miele.

I switched from Dyson upright to shark rocket true pet. It’s amazing.
The only downside to it is that it needs emptied more but I’d never go back to dyson now.
