Cling film should be banned

Dd has destroyed yet another roll by taking it out of the box/holder

which had the tabs pushed in to stop it coming out

and using only part of it so that you can't find the end.

Either I need to stop buying the stuff (I'm sure it's not environmentally friendly)

or she has to leave home before I say something I regret.

So, AIBU?

Sorry title does not match the post.

Solution 3 is to ban the stupid stuff altogether.

You can get reusable food wrappers made with beeswax. They’re quite expensive but they are a long term reusable option, and you can make it yourself. Maybe try Pinterest for how.

Love the beeswax wraps especially for cheese. Made a few using YouTube instructions (the ironing one works best) and not bought any cling film. Just use them and Tupperware for storing leftovers now.

SluttyButty · 16/06/2018 18:26

Lakeland film dispenser is what you need. Gets rid of all your issues and your dd doesn't have to leave home Grin

RomeoBunny · 16/06/2018 18:27

Just dont use it at all. Pointless nasty stuff. Leeches in to your food on contact too 🤢

IveGotBillsTheyreMultiplying · 16/06/2018 18:42

Oh, that sounds

..interesting, the beeswax wraps.

Sorry for the slightly silly topic.

I'm sick of threads about food and weight, dress size and all that.

Feel free to change the subject, just don't tell me how tall you are or how heavy.

I think it along with lots of other single use plastic should be banned apart from for clinical use or by disabled or chronically ill individuals.

I’m with the posters above regarding bees wax wraps and Tupperware. The vendors in our local market use paper bags which I am now reusing.

eightfacesofthemoon · 16/06/2018 18:49

I’m too greedy so there is rarely ever any food to cling film
I won’t tell you how heavy I am because of it though

IveGotBillsTheyreMultiplying · 16/06/2018 18:53

I use it to cover things in the microwave but I should just use a plate.

It’s awful stuff. It goes to poo everytime I use it. I hate it.

EdWinchester · 16/06/2018 19:37

We buy the Bacofoil one in a dispenser that cuts it. No going back.

BertieBotts · 16/06/2018 19:37

I hate it too but it is useful stuff. Annoying.

We have a dispenser thing. Great in theory and it does stop some of the stupidness but DH screwed it to the wall just a bit too close to the cooker so if you cook anything REALLY greasy it gets on the cling film :( Which makes everything about it worse.

SnartyFartBlast · 16/06/2018 19:41

I just use glass Tupperware or foil if I have to really wrap something.
My DM comes to visit about the ince every two months (we live about 300 miles away) and buys her own cling film. Once she's left one of DC destroy it and I can't find the end. It gives me the rage.

expatmigrant · 16/06/2018 19:41

Never use the stuff these days. Transfer any left overs into food containers or use the beeswax wraps instead

Star21 · 16/06/2018 19:48

Agree Bacofill one in the dispenser, more expensive but worth it in my opinion.

IveGotBillsTheyreMultiplying · 16/06/2018 19:49

I also had a stringy bit in the dishwasher waste which wrapped itself round the mechanism and stopped it working.

When I was a kid I used to play with it by sucking a bit into my mouth like bubble then twisting it to close the bubble then burst it. Still remember how it tasted.

This was before bubble wrap was invented.

I still love popping bubble wrap.Grin

Star21 · 16/06/2018 19:49

That should have said Bacofoil

greendale17 · 16/06/2018 19:53

How many times can you use the beeswax wraps before you have to throw it away?

NotTakenUsername · 16/06/2018 19:54

Couldn’t be without this. Love it! Smile

Cling film should be banned
IveGotBillsTheyreMultiplying · 16/06/2018 19:55

Looks like dd might get a reprieve and be allowed to stay then.

OP posts:
eightfacesofthemoon · 16/06/2018 19:58

My ex used to fuck with the cling film and leave it unusable. Fucking rage. I’m sure that’s why I can’t use it now aside from being to greedy
It gives me flashbacks

Many times I wanted to wrap his head with it. Twin peaks style

IveGotBillsTheyreMultiplying · 16/06/2018 19:59

Eightface

I took that first bit literally

Like he used it as a condom

Now there's a money saver GrinGrin
