Dd has destroyed yet another roll by taking it out of the box/holder

which had the tabs pushed in to stop it coming out

and using only part of it so that you can't find the end.

Either I need to stop buying the stuff (I'm sure it's not environmentally friendly)

or she has to leave home before I say something I regret.

So, AIBU?

I was thinking

I'm glad you didn't use it after and I'm not surprised you dumped him.

@IveGotBillsTheyreMultiplying
Shit that made me laugh so hard!!!

Sadly I wish he had! at least I would have had some action, even if clingfilm was involved, better than nothing!!!!

MeyYael · 16/06/2018 20:03

I don't think we have it. and if we do... Well, we don't use it.

You could use paper based wrapping material or put it the food in boxes. (Plastic, wood, metal...)

IamReginaFalange · 16/06/2018 20:03

I thought this thread was about a scary film about a Cling. ConfusedGrin

MeyYael · 16/06/2018 20:04

But I have used clingfilm for oral sex (in college...)

Blush
IveGotBillsTheyreMultiplying · 16/06/2018 20:04

But I may get nightmares about beeswax paper condoms now HmmShock

You need cling film with pvc in it works fine

DoinItForTheKids · 16/06/2018 20:08

I rarely use it now, I tend to use the 'Tupperware' (where the lids are missing!!) and put these on the top: www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B074XCWZQN/ref=asc_df_B074XCWZQN53215405/?hvlocphy=9045458&linkCode=df0&hvptwo&hvnetw=g&hvadid=256184816614&creative=22122&hvpone&hvlocint&creativeASIN=B074XCWZQN&hvpos=1o2&hvdev=c&hvdvcmdl&hvqmt&tag=mumsnetforum-21&hvtargid=pla-421721942610&hvrand=12856354051941160170

I'll use regular food bags too to tightly wrap feta cheese and things where you need close contact but wherever I can I use the stretchy lids which means they're not in contact with the food.

I probably now only use cling film about 2% of the time.

alifemoreorlessordinary · 16/06/2018 20:11

supposed to be better if you keep it in the fridge, but i agree with eightfaces; who invented it??

SheGotBetteDavisEyes · 16/06/2018 20:13

I bloody hate cling film. It's unusably crap at getting off the roll and apparently invented purely to make me swear and throw it back in the drawer.

SoupDragon · 16/06/2018 20:14

Yes, cling film should be banned but not for the reason you say.

I’ve not used it for years and years though. I have Tupperware type boxes instead.

MeyYael · 16/06/2018 20:24

As for who invented it...:

Swiss dude named Jacques E. Brandenberger in 1908 (apparently)...

I tend to put that in metal ot plastic 'tuppoware' boxes :)

eightfacesofthemoon · 16/06/2018 21:23

@MeyYael
WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK!!
That’s madness!

MeyYael · 16/06/2018 21:29

Using Tupperware boxes? It doesn't seem that strange to me, tbh...?

we also have a cheese bell... I don't like to use cellophane, tbh. (As I said, not even sure if we have any...)

MeyYael · 16/06/2018 21:30

I guess you might need a slightly bigger fridge? Confused

IveGotBillsTheyreMultiplying · 16/06/2018 22:04

May Yael

Now I'm wondering if you had alternative uses for Tupperware? Grin

OP posts:
MeyYael · 16/06/2018 22:08

Oh gosh, I'm dense Blush

No alternative uses for Tupperware, unfortunately...

We later cut up condoms (which is a recommended alternative for dental dams...) but cling film was initially (mis)used Wink Better than nothing, I suppose?
