AIBU to ask for rinsing?

Rinsing before putting stuff in the dishwasher that is. I’m raging at my man child who refuses to rinse stuff and I have just had to rewash most things from the “clean” dishwasher. His reply “I don’t see why I should have to”. Now- here’s the thing. Is rinsing needed or is my dishwasher shit?
Either way the washing up of dried on stuff sucks and asking me to wash up because the gloves don’t fit him is making me fume. Smoke coming out my ears cross.

Your dishwasher is shit, or you are overfilling it. It is so wasteful to rinse dishes and then put in dishwasher. You should do one or the other.

I have a new Bosch dishwasher and the instructions say that there is no need to rinse crockery, just remove any large lumps of food.

I tend to rinse anything that might dry on as soon as the plate is done with. I will rinse pots and pans as I put the food into serving trays, then leave them on the side. Will rinse plates as I clear the table. Then she;I actually go to load the dishwasher, stuff hasn’t been left to dry on.

Nope, just scrape off the bits of food. Sometimes I rinse if there's lots stuck on that's hard to scrape.

Your dishwasher is shit. Does it have enough salt and rinse aid? Does it need a good scrub/filters cleaned out/cleaning product put through it?

We have a Miele and I never need to rinse things. There are only a couple of things it struggles with (eg very greasy marks of trays from cooking Linda McCartney burgers) but we wash those by hand. I wouldn't see the point of having one if I had to rinse everything first.

Oh and the spray arms- are the holes blocked?

We scrape into the food bin then put in the dishwasher never rinse and have perfectly clean items, and our dishwasher is 17 years old. Waste of water and time rinsing......I think you need to look at your dishwasher and the loading of it

No rinsing here. DIshwashers do need a bit of 'maintenance' though - salt /rinse-aid / cleaning the filter / stacking properly etc. I cba, I just wash the dishes half the time.

My dishwasher is 3 years old, I've never rinsed. As pp said remove clumps with a scrape and stack. I only use Asda's £5 for 30 dishwasher tablets too (nowt fancy) and never a problem.

Rinsing isn't needed but decent scraping is.

The only time I rinse is if I’m not putting it on immediately and it’s something like egg. Otherwise there’s no need.

My Bosch has been in over ten years. Never rinsed only scraped. What's the point in having one if everything needs to be semi washed to go in?

Mine is Bosch so there’s something not right isn’t there? Can the spray arms come off? Will get a cleaner. Already use salt and rinse aid...

You need to scrape plates properly and make sure chunks aren't stuck on cutlery, load it up properly, not over fill it and then simply wash stuff.

I suspect you aren't loading it properly. The booklet it comes with will tell you how to do it or else search on YouTube.

No need to rinse, just scrape off the food. Rinsing is a waste of time. I’m the one I your DH shoes, my OH bangs on about rinsing first, strops around pulling dishes out and running under the tap ect. There is a rinse cycle on the dishwasher the first thing is does is soak everything!

I’ll google loading but tend to put plates on bottom and bowls and glasses and cups at the top. Cutlery with tines uppermost etc and stuff like spatulas on the rack thing. No heavy soiled stuff on top

Take the spray arms off and clean all the little holes.

Not supposed to rinse things. The detergents you put in are so abrasive, that if you rinse, they act too harshly in the crockery/glassware.

Have you cleaned out the filter?

We don't rinse anything and it all comes out fine.

But our issue is that we don't use the dishwasher enough.

It's fine if it gets washed more or less right away.

But it seems to... Stick too much if it takes us longer to fill up the dishwasher. :/
