I work in a shop. I always park in the public carpark if there's space but of not I park behind my shop. It's awkward to get into which is why I prefer the carpark. My shop owns the land behind it.

Man from the other shop came to see me today and asked if the car behind my shop was mine. I replied yes and he said well would you mind moving it so I can park there? I dont want to get a ticket on the road. (Road A has double yellow lines)

Me: if I move back I'll be in someone else's space
Him: It's ok, no-one parks there.
M: that's our space though for the shop.
H: I know but the old manager let me park there.
M: old manager didn't drive, I do. Plus you'd be blocking me in and I leave before you.
H: well obviously all you have to do is come and tell me you're leaving and I'll let you out!

I really don't want to have to go to his shop every day, wait for him to lock up then move his car before I can go home but I don't know if I'm being petty? He wasn't very friendly which may be clouding my judgement. So aibu to still park there?

Is he a cf or aibu (parking one with diagram)

Yanbu. Perhaps if he’d been nicer you may have been more amenable.

MuddlingMackem · 12/06/2018 18:44

He's a CF.

Singlebutmarried · 12/06/2018 18:45

Why doesn’t he park in the other space if it’s not an issue? Or will he still be blocking you in if he parks in the other space.

He's a CF.

FASH84 · 12/06/2018 18:46

He can park in the car park, put a sign up saying parking for 'shop name staff only'

whylie · 12/06/2018 18:47

Well if no one parks in other space tell him to park there! Not you!
You should not move YOUR car out of YOUR space for anyone! Let alone him!
YANBU in the slightest !

NorrisToenail · 12/06/2018 18:48

He can't park in the other space as he arrives after me so can't get in. Technically you should be able to access the back of the shops through the carpark on the other side but someone always parks there blocking it.

Why cant he park in the car park?

NorrisToenail · 12/06/2018 18:49

Car park is always full by 8.40. He doesn't arrive until 9.30.

Why would you be unreasonable? Seriously? Tell him to jog on.

DontTouchTheMoustache · 12/06/2018 18:51

All of these things are his problem, not yours

SickRose · 12/06/2018 18:52

Definitely a CF

Ellendegeneres · 12/06/2018 18:52

Ahhahahahaha he’s so cf it’s almost unbelievable. But some people are actually this deluded and entitled

NorrisToenail · 12/06/2018 18:52

Suppose I feel guilty because he's been using the space for a while before I started.

OP posts:
MoonsAndJunes · 12/06/2018 18:54

The answer would be no.
His shop doesn't have its own parking space, your shop has.
He can't demand to have yours.
He'll need to get in earlier to park in the car park or find somewhere else close by.

UnimaginativeUsername · 12/06/2018 18:55

He needs to stop trying to make his parking issue into yours.

NorrisToenail · 12/06/2018 18:56

There's ample parking 2 minutes walk down the main road btw!

OP posts:
MoonsAndJunes · 12/06/2018 18:56

Doesn't matter if he's been parking there for 10 years. The parking space is behind your shop and you need to use the space.

UrsulaPandress · 12/06/2018 18:56

He needs to sort out the access from the car park.

UnimaginativeUsername · 12/06/2018 18:57

Well. He needs to park there then. Doesn’t he?

MoonsAndJunes · 12/06/2018 18:57

He can park 2 mins away.
Just say 'no, sorry' if he asks again.

MachineBee · 12/06/2018 19:08

‘No’ is a full sentence! Grin

NorrisToenail · 12/06/2018 19:10

Unanimous then! Grin

Who's space would you be in if you moved it to where he wants?
