I work in a shop. I always park in the public carpark if there's space but of not I park behind my shop. It's awkward to get into which is why I prefer the carpark. My shop owns the land behind it.

Man from the other shop came to see me today and asked if the car behind my shop was mine. I replied yes and he said well would you mind moving it so I can park there? I dont want to get a ticket on the road. (Road A has double yellow lines)

Me: if I move back I'll be in someone else's space
Him: It's ok, no-one parks there.
M: that's our space though for the shop.
H: I know but the old manager let me park there.
M: old manager didn't drive, I do. Plus you'd be blocking me in and I leave before you.
H: well obviously all you have to do is come and tell me you're leaving and I'll let you out!

I really don't want to have to go to his shop every day, wait for him to lock up then move his car before I can go home but I don't know if I'm being petty? He wasn't very friendly which may be clouding my judgement. So aibu to still park there?

I agree just tell him it's not convenient for you to do as he asks.

Maelstrop · 12/06/2018 19:24

He’s a massively cheeky fucker. Grey rock him, a simple repeated no, it’s not convenient. No way should you be put out for his convenience. Incredibly entitled of him. Unbelievably rude, actually.

GabriellaMontez · 12/06/2018 19:25

C.f..
His problem is whoever is blocking the other space.

KarmaStar · 12/06/2018 19:27

Yep,unanimous!he is a c.f.!😂

Ratarse · 12/06/2018 19:30

100 quid a month and it's his. CF! If you rent, surely the space will be included in the price, you'll be paying for it!

Galwaygirl · 12/06/2018 19:30

What's CF ? Can't make out abbreviations, thanks

EggysMom · 12/06/2018 19:35

Suggest that he can park in the other space, he simply has to park elsewhere, come and see you in the shop and politely ask you to move, you pull out temporarily, he parks behind your neighbour's shop, then you pull back in.

Oh, is that too much like hard work? Smile No harder than him expecting you to come and ask him to move his car at the end of your working day.

CF. "No".

agedknees · 12/06/2018 19:40

He’s making his problem your problem. Don’t allow it. Keep repeating to him “no, that won’t work for me”. He’s a CF.

NorrisToenail · 12/06/2018 19:41

CF= cheeky fucker

Eggy that's a really hood idea!

I'd put up cctv or a dummy camera in case he decides to get even. He's the kind of entitled twat who'd do something like that, or sprinkling tacks. Keep an eye out for the next week or so...

Daddystepdaddy · 12/06/2018 19:45

Move your car and let him park in the other space then move your car back to the space owned by your shop.

NorrisToenail · 12/06/2018 19:50

Daddy you think I should close my shop, 30 minutes after opening, every day to move my car and let him in? Confused

OP posts:
NorrisToenail · 12/06/2018 19:51

Juells bollocks, I hope not.

Whereismumhiding2 · 12/06/2018 19:52

Are you the manager or owner of your shop?
Doesn't matter what the old manager agreed to, it's no longer relevant .
Hebhas no right to park on land owned by your shop of he doesn't have current manager nor owner's agreement. And as you need it, why would they /you agree?
I'd just say no

ItsNachoCheese · 12/06/2018 19:52

Hes a cheeky fucker alright

NorrisToenail · 12/06/2018 19:54

I'm the manager.

Whereismumhiding2 · 12/06/2018 19:55

This aounds like an example of someone who has been given a favour in the past, becoming entitled.
What does he or his shop do for your shop? If there's a mutual benefit that's different.

Whereismumhiding2 · 12/06/2018 19:56

@NorrisToenail
Ah well, it's your decision then and you are under no obligation to agree to his request, especially as it would adversely affect your shop by you having to close it to shift around cars!

NorrisToenail · 12/06/2018 19:58

No mutual benefits at all. The old manager had an issue with him a while back when he was pissy about moving his car to let our delivery driver past. He's a bit of a knob.

OP posts:
Juells · 12/06/2018 20:02

He was being done a favour, and didn't want to move his car? Entitlement doesn't even cover it, he's deeply stupid.

Whereismumhiding2 · 14/06/2018 10:04

when he was pissy about moving his car to let our delivery driver past
We'll, that's an even more easy No to him then. And a 'You do not have permission to park on (our) shop land'' so that he never parks there.
Really if there is plentiful free parking 2 mins away, he is being grabby.

BottleOfJameson · 14/06/2018 10:22

He's definitely a CF. I'd be inclined to be nice if he'd had a compelling reason he needed to park there and he'd asked nicely but from your description I wouldn't.

CanaBanana · 14/06/2018 10:41

He's a CF. Not your problem if he can't get parked. Put up a sign that says Private: Parking only for NorrisToenail Shop.

NorrisToenail · 14/06/2018 13:05

I really want to rename it NorrisToenail shop now Grin

Well I saw him yesterday, I was parked behind the shop as the carpark was full and he stood outside his shop looking at me through the window and just shook his head Hmm
So definitely no favours for him now.

BouleBaker · 14/06/2018 13:30

What a wankmuffin he is. Just ignore him.
