To ask how you pack your toothbrush and shoes

I feel like I'm old enough not to be asking this!

I usually throw my tooth brush in the wash bag. Sometimes I wrap loo roll around it. I don't have one of those nifty toothbrush head protector thingys. Where would I get one? Are they necessary?

And shoes? I usually put them at the top of my suitcase, soles facing up towards the lid of the suitcase. I feel that's so unhygienic though...

What do others do?

I bought some toothbrush head covers in Primark. I think I paid around a pound for a four pack.
I usually put shoes in a plastic bag.

Trinity66 · 11/06/2018 14:16

I usually put the shoes in first, soles downwards. Toothbrush I wrap in tinfoil and put it in my wash bag

TakeAChanseyOnMe · 11/06/2018 14:16

I have a fold up travel toothbrush from boots, they’re cheap and work well. I just keep it in the toiletry bag I use when travelling. For shoes I do the same as you.

BikeRunSki · 11/06/2018 14:17

Toothbrush in washbag, naked.
Shoes on top upside down.

youwouldthink · 11/06/2018 14:18

Toothbrush in a cover. Shoes in cling film which i wrap in when away...spot the one who put her foot in a shoe with a bug!!

DianaPrincessOfThemyscira · 11/06/2018 14:18

Toothbrushes go in a slim wash bag I use just for them.

Shoes go in last with soles facing up. Last because I pack light and if I have room I will add an extra pair or omit if the bag is full with other things.

MikeUniformMike · 11/06/2018 14:18

shoes go in a carrier bag. toothbrush gets a small polythene bag to itself then goes in the washbag

Stephisaur · 11/06/2018 14:18

My suitcase is a hard shell one so it has a zipped compartment which is basically half the case. So shoes go in there, along with toiletries etc. I literally just chuck them in as they're not touching anything I'm going to wear if you know what I mean.

I bought a folding toothbrush for travel a while back. The head folds into the handle, protecting the bristles :)

Prusik · 11/06/2018 14:19

Toothbrush slung in the bottom of the bag and shoes upside down on top Grin

TroysMammy · 11/06/2018 14:19

Toothbrush in a plastic holder, Wilko. Shoes around the side of the case soles facing the outside. Socks inside the shoes.

BarbaraofSevillle · 11/06/2018 14:19

My suitcase has slots under the lid to put shoes in. Without these I would probably put them in a carrier bag.

Toothbrush just goes in a washbag, don't see the need for a toothbrush cover.

Jarline · 11/06/2018 14:19

Shower caps are really good for shoes! You can get toothbrush head covers or full toothbrush cases in the pound shop in the travel bit......

IncyWincyMouseRat · 11/06/2018 14:23

Presuming it’s for a holiday somewhere sunny... usually I wear trainers on the plane and shove a couple of pairs or sandals or flip flops either in the zippy compartment in the lid or at the bottom of the case. No one I know has died of flip flop germs touching their clothes. Can’t ever foresee needing more than three different show options - flip flop, smart-ish sandal and trainers/walking boots. Toothbrushes just go in a wash bag naked or in a pocket in hand luggage if it’s a long flight with connections etc.

BlueBug45 · 11/06/2018 14:27

Toothbrush covers can be brought from Primark, Superdrugs, Wilkos, Savers and similar stores. I only started using them in case something leaks in my washbag, but to be fair with the airport rules I tend to have two if I'm going by plane.

Shoes I normally put in carrier bags though I do have some shoe bags of different qualities due to having different types of sports shoes. It's mainly because I don't want mud and other crap on my clothes even if they are dirty.

Angie169 · 11/06/2018 14:35

I have a travel tooth brush ( from boots i think ) that splits in half its got a hollow handle so the brush goes inside the handle , this keeps it clean and reduces the size too then it gets chucked in the wash bag.
My shoes get a through clean ( but not polish ) and put in the case 1st with underwear / medicine etc in them .

purplecorkheart · 11/06/2018 14:45

I have a folding toothbrush that goes into a my bathroom bag ( which is washed after nearly every trip). Shoes go into shower caps or plastic bags normally at the bottom of the case or slipped into the sides if the are flats.

OliviaStabler · 11/06/2018 14:48

Toothbrush goes in a plastic bag (one for sandwiches) then into a wash bag. Shoes go into a shop plastic bag.

RevRichardWayneGaryWayne · 11/06/2018 14:52

Shoes either top or bottom with soles facing out
Tooth brush in a sandwich bag, then in washbag.

BackforGood · 11/06/2018 14:55

toothbrush head covers or somewhere like Wilkinsons in your local High Street.

Shoes I tend to put at edge of suitcase (so they'd be at the bottom when it is standing up), stuffed with socks etc. However, mostly, if travelling somewhere hot I'd be wearing trainers and flip flops / sandals tend to go base to base just anywhere in the case.

KentishLady2018 · 11/06/2018 14:56

I bought a hard cover case for my sonic toothbrush after collecting my suitcase at an airport once and you could hear the buzzing vibration coming from it where it had been turned on in the case accidentally. So, not only did my battery not last the whole holiday, but everyone around me at the airport did not automatically assume it was a toothbrush...! Blush

I put shoes around the outside of my suitcase with the soles facing outwards, but I line the case with a beach towel so there's a layer in between the clothes and the shoes. We're not beachy people and most hotels we go to provide towels, so the beach towel is used purely for travelling purposes.

TroubledLichen · 11/06/2018 14:59

Shoes go soles down at the bottom of the case. Toothbrush goes in a freezer bag type thing or failing that cling film and then into the wash bag.

violetbunny · 11/06/2018 15:01

I have shoe bags that I always use for travelling. Toothbrush goes into its own case. Then again I am quite fussy about packing, everything mostly goes into packing cubes.

flissfloss65 · 11/06/2018 15:01

Toilet roll around toothbrush. Really must buy the protector cove.

Shoes are put in plastic bags. Don’t like the idea of them against clean clothes.

Hideandgo · 11/06/2018 15:06

Usually toothbrush in side pocket with other toiletries and shoes in main compartment. If soles are visibly clean I just point them away from clothes or if grubby, put them in a bag.

Honestly though I would have zero issue with fecking them all in together. Seriously, all my children have sucked shoes at various times. I eat something I want that’s dropped to the floor as long as there’s no lint on it and I’d have no problem just giving said toothbrush that was hanging out with my shoes in my bag a good wash and using it without a backward glance.

mirime · 11/06/2018 16:20

Toothbrush in a sandwich bag in my washbag, shoes in a carrier bag, then usually in the side pocket of the case.
