A family just got up and left this appalling mess for the staff to clear up. Is this normal behaviour?

That is grim, and not normal behaviour as far as I am concerned.

ShutUpBaz · 10/06/2018 14:24

That is fucking rank.

If they returned to my pub, they'd be refused service. I don't care how naice someone is, or how they think service staff are beneath them (because that is exactly what this kind of behaviour denotes, without exception). They are disgusting tramps.

Makes me so angry. Some people are just trash.

Dopplerineffect · 10/06/2018 14:24

Disgusting! They should be barred. That isn’t just a few crumbs.

Sparklingbrook · 10/06/2018 14:24

I hope the liquid is just spilt drink...

StealthPolarBear · 10/06/2018 14:24

Ugh

divadee · 10/06/2018 14:25

They should be bloody ashamed. They won't be but they should.

I have worked in hospitality and this can be a common occurance. I clear up behind me so the place is spotless. I even ask for a dustpan and brush if food has been dropped.

Strugglingtodomybest · 10/06/2018 14:25

I don't think it's normal. You probably would have noticed it if it was normal would you?!

Doesitfit88 · 10/06/2018 14:25

Oh my goodness, no I wouldn't leave anywhere in that state. Staff are not paid enough to deal with it!

TERFragetteCity · 10/06/2018 14:25

I used to work in a City Farm. Families used to do this nearly every day. I say families; it was often groups of 2-3 women and their kids. And it wasn't staff that cleared it up, it was volunteers, mostly with SEN.

It used to proper fucking wind me up. But we couldn't say anything as we were funded in the cafe by sales and donations.

They should be ashamed of themselves.

Butternutissquashed · 10/06/2018 14:26

Not acceptable no. Unfortunately I’ve seen this a few times and looking at the mess left behind by children in the school where I work, I fear it’s becoming more common. If you wouldn’t do it at home, don’t do it when you are out!

DearMrDilkington · 10/06/2018 14:27

Ugh that's disgusting. I dread to imagine what their house is like.

bopeepsheep · 10/06/2018 14:27

No it is not normal behaviour. A friends asked a woman to clear up after her DC in her cafe a few weeks ago and they stormed out swearing then gave her a nasty Trip Adviser review. People can be absolute pigs.

What I really struggle to fathom is that these kids will behave like that at home as well - they are being taught that they can make a gross mess and someone will clear up after them, so the parents will be the ones who suffer most.

Blondie789 · 10/06/2018 14:28

Fucking shameless, dirty, disrespectful little fucking TRAMPS!

Utter cuntery!

LifeBeginsAtGin · 10/06/2018 14:30

Some people are selfish twats.

We've just watched a bloke reserve a disable parking space by standing in it, whilst his wife ran further down to get their car. Another car pulled up and there appeared to be a 'conversation', & it pulled then into an ordinary space where they then proceeded to get a wheelchair out the car.

Both cars had disabled badges but to reserve a space when someone more in need came along took the piss.

MelissaElderflower · 10/06/2018 14:31

😲Ffs!
Just wondering how it looks at their own house...!?

BastardGoDarkly · 10/06/2018 14:32

The tables spotless, so I take it that's crumbs wiped onto the floor?

Not acceptable still, but not first how it appears either.

Fluffybat · 10/06/2018 14:32

That's terrible. My LO threw food on floor in cafe yesterday and I asked for a dustpan to sweep it up.

pigsDOfly · 10/06/2018 14:34

It's probably fine at their own house Melissa. They probably only do things like that when some other poor mug is going to have to clean it up.

lanbro · 10/06/2018 14:36

Not normal at all! I have a coffee shop and customers ask for a dust pan and brush but we normally insist we will sort, never had anything like that tho!

WilburIsSomePig · 10/06/2018 14:40

That's disgusting. Not normal at all.

Sirzy · 10/06/2018 14:42

Having worked in a cafe before now it’s sadly not unusual. Some people just lack respect and basic manners.

TheDairyQueen · 10/06/2018 14:42

YANBU. There is no good reason for anyone to walk away and leave this, and I'd certainly be banning them from returning after that.

frasier · 10/06/2018 14:42

What did they do, have a food fight?

retainertrainer · 10/06/2018 14:45

We’ve just returned from holiday. The absolute state that some families left their tables in at the resort was appalling. We tidied up after every meal-took 2 mins to stack the plates.

Same when getting off the plane. Row upon row of filth left behind for the cabin crew to clean. Pop corn strewn everywhere, drinks bottles, a dirty nappy (bagged up but still).

Some people of rank.
