Surely other people get bitten, too?

I went out to eat with a group of four people this evening. We came out of the restaurant and walked by a river. I was chilly and put my cardie back on. The others remained bare-armed. My shoulders were exposed for all of, oh, three minutes. Yet I got bitten on the back of my shoulders. Two bites.

None of the others were bitten, despite flaunting their flesh all the way back to the carpark.

Why me?

AIBU to think that other people get bitten, too, but their bodies don't react to the bites?

Or am I just some delectable treat for every passing mozzie and gnat?

I never get bitten.

gabsdot · 10/06/2018 00:38

I never get bitten either. DH always does.

JenBarber · 10/06/2018 00:38

Yes, me.

Apparently I'm yummy.

Butterflykissess · 10/06/2018 00:39

yes i would like to know too. i was in my sisters garden a few weekends ago and i got 5 bites on my bum! tmi but even one between the cheeks how the fuck did it get in there!! i was wearing leggings and a dress not like i was parading around naked. meanwhile i was left with 5 massive itchy bumps for almost a week. sister didnt get bitten once.

sugarnotsweetener · 10/06/2018 00:39

I think I read certain blood groups are more prone to it. It’s always me over my husband too!

nancy75 · 10/06/2018 00:40

Everyone gets bitten but some people react to the bite more than others.
I had a bit on my leg last year the size of a dinner plate - I obviously react quite strongly!

BertrandRussell · 10/06/2018 00:41

Nobody gets bitten if my ds is there. I am considering hiring him out at barbecues. He was a nit magnet too. Apparantly some people have a very very slightly higher body temperature than normal and that attracts insects......

Mrsjones17 · 10/06/2018 00:42

I always get bitten no matter what! Even managed to get through my bloody jeans the other night! Not only that but when I am bitten they swell up in huge red marks and blister most of the time and take about 4 weeks to go away. It’s horrible. I’ve tried everything. Must just have an allergic reaction to bites!! It’s a nightmare

LoveInTokyo · 10/06/2018 00:42

I am absolutely bitten to buggery at the moment.

steff13 · 10/06/2018 00:43

I'm a mosquito buffet, too. It's something to do with your blood and the way that you smell that attracts them.

expatinscotland · 10/06/2018 00:44

I get absolutely clobbered! Every single time. Covering myself in DEET is the only thing that keeps them off. Both mozzies and midgies leave big welts on my skin that itch for over a week and leave marks, some of which take months to go away.

FinallyHere · 10/06/2018 00:45

I used to get bitten a lot, DH almost never. I also used to have a very sweet tooth, regularly eat sweets and have pudding after a meal. Since i started eating strictly low carb , i f8bd i hardly ever get bitten and if i do the reaction is much, much less than it used to be. May be coincidence

tigercub50 · 10/06/2018 00:45

I am a target too! Awful! Off to Majorca soon & it’s supposed to be bad in certain areas. I need to swap the roll on repellent for spray as DH reckons it’s better.

expatinscotland · 10/06/2018 00:47

It must be, Finally, because I don't care for sweets at all and they still eat me alive. DH who adores puds and sweets almost never gets bitten. We have the same blood type, too.

vampirethriller · 10/06/2018 00:48

I never get bitten but my mother is insect bait. They love her.

SharronNeedles · 10/06/2018 00:49

Do you eat much garlic?
I eat loads and never get bitten. DH never eats it and always gets bitten

JellySlice · 10/06/2018 00:49

Just you wait, you never-get-bittens, one day, one day...

shoelaces · 10/06/2018 00:50

I only ever get bitten when I'm not with DH. Otherwise, they normally chomp on him!

Bambamber · 10/06/2018 00:50

As a pp said in pretty sure there was a study that indicated people with certain blood groups are more susceptible to bites.

I know I always get feasted upon, and my skin always reacts badly as well.

expatinscotland · 10/06/2018 00:54

Yes, I eat tons of garlic.

KettleOn919 · 10/06/2018 01:03

I think the blood type thing is true. My sister is O neg, and she is a veritable mozzie magnet, whereas I'm A neg and am shunned by right-thinking mozzies everywhere.

RavenLG · 10/06/2018 01:05

I rarely get bitten but DP will get bitten for the both of us. His legs are such a state from bites that he scratches and picks at. I need to put mittens on him!

RJnomore1 · 10/06/2018 01:06

I'm A neg and I don't get bitten

My dad is like a pub cushion though

Bloodybridget · 10/06/2018 01:09

Oh LoveinTokyo "bitten to buggery" ! I use that expression too, I've never heard anyone else say it!

FrustratedTeddyLamp · 10/06/2018 01:11

2 nights ago i got bitten 9 times on one shoulder, the opposite arm, hand
