to wonder wtf she was thinking?

Sat on the train at a table seat next to another woman. I've had my head in my book so not noticed what she's been doing. I looked up for a split second and saw that she had just taken a photo of me on her forward facing camera on what I can only assume is snapchat (never used it). It looked like an app she was using and not her normal camera. She immediately saw that I had noticed and before I had time to say anything she had stood up and moved to a different carriage. AIBU to think that a) this is incredibly rude and to also wonder b) why on earth would she take a photo of ME? Do I look rough/good today? It's creeped me out a little and I'm annoyed I didn't grab her and ask her to remove it. I blame baby brain and my zombified/tired state!

YANBU!!!
I’d be creeped out by that! The only sane explanation is that she was trying to take a pic of your book title instead of writing down the title discreetly. I’m reaching!!

MmeButtox · 05/06/2018 06:56

Meant to take in selfie mode maybe?

abbsisspartacus · 05/06/2018 06:56

Were you in her reserved seat?

Louellah · 05/06/2018 06:57

@Slanetylor her hand was rested on the table and she had the camera pointed towards my face! And the fact it was on Snapchat (I think) makes me think it's been shared with all her friends!! I feel really pissed off. Nobody should take photos of other people and share them with their mates without their permission Sad

Louellah · 05/06/2018 06:58

@abbsisspartacus nope. No such thing as a reserved seat on my crappy West Midlands train Grin

NerrSnerr · 05/06/2018 07:01

Trying to give her the benefit of the doubt, maybe she is the author of the book or friends with them trying to get a crafty picture? That's unlikely though, she's probably a bitch.

Louellah · 05/06/2018 07:03

@NerrSnerr definitely not the author of the book unless she was in fact a he! I think I look pretty nice today. Weird Confused

What is wrong with people?

I’d be tempted to go after her and either ask what she’s up to or stand taking lots of photos of her. However, that’s not a good idea in reality as it would probably lead to a confrontation!

She sounds like a complete knob. Probably best to ignore and not give her anymore headspace.

Although she’s really messed things up hasn’t she if this is her normal morning commute - you’re going to see her every morning and she’s going to have to try to avoid you.

NormskiNamechange · 05/06/2018 07:08

Maybe she likes your outfit or something?

StepBackNow · 05/06/2018 07:12

I've done this but I asked first. The woman in front of me had amazing hair and I was due to get mine cut later in the week and I wanted that hair. She laughed and was fine about it.

Mine didn't look as good, though.

ElMarineroBaila · 05/06/2018 07:12

If she was really bored she probably just wanted to draw a moustache on you, or a stupid speech bubble. Have you seen the pictures that guy does on the trains in America? He takes photos of passengers and draws over them, like really good drawings of superhero costumes etc.

Yeah it's an odd thing to do but might not be anything nasty.

icelollycraving · 05/06/2018 07:16

I had this once with a man, videoing me on a train. When he saw that I had realised he got off the train. Creep.

Deathraystare · 05/06/2018 07:19

This sounds absolutely awful. These shitty creeps should all get a life!

firehousedog · 05/06/2018 07:22

Yep that would creep me out too. Bloody people and their camera phones these days. People take pictures of anything and everything these days.

BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou · 05/06/2018 07:23

Do you look like a celeb? Perhaps she was snapchatting about how she was on the train with Thandie Newton (other gorgeous celebs are available).

Louellah · 05/06/2018 07:24

It's nuts! I felt like the odd one out simply because I was reading a book! I felt like taking a photo of the hundreds of people down the isles with their heads in their mobiles! Though that would have been ironic seeing as I would've had to use my own phone to do it. Wonder what's been done with that photo of me. It was done from a low angle too so no doubt I have an extra chin. Lovely.

Ha @BuggerOffAndGoodDayToYou ! I have been compared to Zoe Saldana a few times but I'm clearly not her Wink

Findingdotty · 05/06/2018 07:25

I think people just think this is ok and acceptable behaviour now. It is not but a lot of people think it is. My brother does this..,look at the person’s shoes, wish I had some or whatever. It’s not always unkind. It’s sometimes taking photos of a top they like or a hairstyle but this still doesn’t make it ok. Teaching our children it isn’t acceptable behaviour is the only thing I can think of to combat it going forward.

Findingdotty · 05/06/2018 07:26

Could have been a photo of your book? Bizarre but true.

Louellah · 05/06/2018 07:27

@Findingdotty thing is if she liked my hair or my top or my shoes, either ask to take a photo and I would've covered my face (my hair is in box braids so I could've just pointed her in the direction of my braided anyway) or asked me where I got the outfit from. Taking a photo is outright weird Confused I certainly shall be teaching my child basic manners and to no do things like this when he/she is older!

Sparklyshoes16 · 05/06/2018 07:28

How bizarre I would have mightily been pissed off! Some very very odd people around!

Sprinklesinmyelbow · 05/06/2018 07:29

How can you tell she wasn’t taking a selfie?

Louellah · 05/06/2018 07:31

@Sprinklesinmyelbow because I was the only person in the photo and when I looked at her phone she very swiftly closed the screen down and stood up to walk to a different carriage... you know when you just know?

OP posts:
FuckPants · 05/06/2018 07:33

How do you know she was using Snapchat or wasn't taking a selfie?

Louellah · 05/06/2018 07:36

@FuckPants if she was taking a selfie surely the photo would have been of her and not me though? Surely nobody is that stupid that they try and take a photo of themselves but accidentally take it of the girl next to them? Confused

The photo looked as though it was on an app. She had an iPhone and so do I and it definitely wasn't the normal camera! Might not have been snapchat. I have never used it before...
