To call my cat Bustopher?

I adopted a beautiful cat and he is finally here. I absolutely love him already. He is mostly black with some patches of white. And he is quite fat fluffy

Because of his appearance and said abundance of girth fluff, I have decided to give him the name of Bustopher. So I phoned my friend this evening and told her about my new little darling addition and naturally the topic of his name comes up. When I told her his name is Bustopher there was an awkward pause on the phone and she said "umm... that's a bit of a strange name." I explain the origins behind it and she said "Nobody will get the reference and you can't call him Bustopher it sounds like you can't say Christopher properly!"

I'm quite dismayed . First world problem I know but I am just wondering if any of you get the reference to Bustopher? I thought it was an awesome name but is my friend right? Should I just call him Fluffy or Felix or some other cutesy name?

YANBU - Bustopher is an awesome name.

I am lying in bed so will get a pic tomorrow . I absolutely love Cats and it's one of my favourite musicals. I don't think my friend even knows what it is TBH! Not really her cup of tea.

Jennyanydots, now that would be a fab name! I actually really wanted to use MaCavity but there's no way this big boy is defying the rules of gravity! So Bustopher it is.

I would get the reference and love it all the more so because he fits the description. But even if I didn't I would think it was a fun name.

I wasn’t aware of the Eliot poem - but frankly I don’t see why you’d give a toss if one of your friends thought you were mispronouncing Christopher (unless you’re worried she’s gone doolally).
