Always wanted one as a kid but never did get one.
Wondering if any mumsnetters have one and how you got it? Grin

I have one. Obtained via friend who worked on production team on the occasion of my 35th birthday!!! I'm sure this isn't the kind of answer you were looking for though!!

frasier · 27/05/2018 00:14

I have one, bought it on a car boot sale because it reminded me of my childhood. Don't think this is the sort of answer you were looking for either!

Bippitybopityboo · 27/05/2018 00:15

I was thinking more along the lines of I made thee best tracey island replica and they couldn't not give me one.

But the main thing is you have one! what a fab gift Grin

My daughter got one a few weeks ago she sent in a scary story. It took MONTHS to arrive, send something in and you should get a badge!

ruddynorah · 27/05/2018 00:16

You don't have to do much to get one. Just send in a drawing. My two DC have them.

NobodyKnowsTiddlyPom · 27/05/2018 00:17

I don't have one but two of my children do. We managed to use them to get them into Alton Towers free a couple of years ago - before Merlin decided to withdraw themselves from the Blue Peter Badge scheme. Meanies.

One of my daughters wrote a letter about something (can't remember what) to get hers and the other one wrote in to tell them about taking part in and completing that year's Summer Reading Challenge.

RosemaryHoight · 27/05/2018 00:19

My dd has three. Shortly to be followed by a restraining order. We love BP.

Bippitybopityboo · 27/05/2018 00:19

I didn't realise you could still get them. I grew out of cbbc and now I'm stuck with ceebeebies because I have a toddler. Ed Sheeran just posted on Instagram about them and it made me feel a tad nostalgic.

Yes I've got one from the 1970's. I wrote in about some baby blackbirds me and mum rescued and hand reared. It's one of my very precious possessions.

TittyGolightly · 27/05/2018 00:20

I do! I wrote in with a recipe aged 8 and was thrilled to receive the badge in the post.

Unfortunately we didn’t live anywhere near of the places you could get in for free, so it ended up in my dad’s safekeeping. I was finally considered grown up enough to take responsibility for it myself aged 38.

Unfortunately the system is now far more technical, so I can’t use it to get DD into places for free. But it’s still one of my most treasured possessions. Smile

TyneTeas · 27/05/2018 00:20

My dd does Smile

It was great for inspiring excellent patient queuing behaviour while wearing it for BP badge attractions when younger. (You're representing Helen, Andi and Joel, what would they think if they can round on a random inspection?!)

Pancakeflipper · 27/05/2018 00:21

My DS1 has 2. And he's going for others - there's a complete family of badges.
I was soooo.jealous.
They also get a card for entry to various visitor attractions.

And got a lovely letter from.the producer. Nicely done.

Redglitter · 27/05/2018 00:22

I won a competition in one of their annuals. Got a BP goodie bag complete with badge

Bippitybopityboo · 27/05/2018 00:23

I also didn't realise you got into attractions free! I thought it was just the pride of the Badge, wow!!

My did has 4 now, having just received the limited edition diamond badge, only available this year. She’s very proud.

thefemaleJoshLyman · 27/05/2018 00:30

I have one, although ths pin bit has broken off. It is kept in my jewellery box. I did use it to get into the Mary Rose for free once. I wrote a letter in and then received it a couple of months later.

StrawberrySherbet · 27/05/2018 00:31

I have three of the blue-on-white shield-shaped ones, one for each time I appeared on the programme. (They used to ask for volunteers from my choir to go along and boost the carol-singing in the Christmas show.)

ScreamingValenta · 27/05/2018 00:34

I had one but it was stolen when our house was burgled Sad. I got it for writing to BP to correct a minor error on their programme, juvenile pedant that I was. The burglar was caught and we got some of our stuff back - but not my badge.

HarrietSchulenberg · 27/05/2018 00:42

Ds2 has one for a poem he sent in. The pin fell off it so we popped into the BBC reception at Media City whilst we were at Salford Quays one day, and a chap from the BP offices came over and swapped it for a new one. He fished one from a big plastic bag with about 200 badges in 😂.

TrinnersForWinners · 27/05/2018 00:45

I have two! One blue on white one and one white on green one - I think I drew some sort of picture for the blue one and then made a model out of recycled milk bottle tops and sent them a photo for the green one. Never used them to get anywhere but 10+ years on I'm unreasonably proud of having them still haha.

Bippitybopityboo · 27/05/2018 00:47

Hope someone pops on to tell us about their gold Badge!!

OP posts:
Cawfee · 27/05/2018 00:55

Sadly no gold badge but I do have a regular blue on white badge. I got mine in the late 70’s. I entered a competition and was runner up. I feel my badge was a greater achievement than my degree!

ScreamingValenta · 27/05/2018 00:58

He fished one from a big plastic bag with about 200 badges in

I'm not too far from Salford - do you think they'd replace mine if I explained about the burglary? Grin Burglary was over 30 years ago, so they'd have to take my word for it.

Choccywoccyhooha · 27/05/2018 01:09

I always wanted one, but never got one. Both of my DS have 3 each though (blue, purple, and diamond), and are currently working on projects to get their silver and green ones.

Mamaryllis · 27/05/2018 01:18

Dsis got one in the 70s as her brownie unit was invited to the studio to do a routine. I can’t believe you get them now for writing in or doing a picture! I’m sure you only used to get them for being on the show!
